I chose Cheers as my sitcom because of what I have seen growing up. Cheers reflect life as it might be for me as an adult. Cheers take place in a watering hole commonly known as a bar in Boston, Massachusetts. The sitcom is based on a small bar owner named Sam Malone played by Ted Danson. After a failed marriage, his other relationships consisted of lust. Personal identity traits and characteristics of Sam and Diane played by Shelly Long will help better understand their relationship. They both think highly of themselves, however, Sam is a womanizer and does not mind his identity. On the other hand, Diane a graduate student and writer always think she is more than what other people think of her. Eventually, Robin returned to the bar with the sad news he was going back to his wife. Sam hires her as a server with reservations as another sleeping friend. Sam convinces her she was not going back to be with Robin, which she probably knew but needed to hear. Sam’s career in major league baseball helped set the stage for his womanizing. Being a professional athlete, Sam knew there was a certain level of fitness to maintain. The energy he played with on the field help drives his motivated him in business. Sam standing six feet two inches and by all counts women’s man enhances Ted’s body language and strengthens his nonverbal messages. In another scene, Rebecca played by Julia Duffy mesmerized by the six feet plus frame of Sam getting physically and mentally ready to attend as he leans on the counter with the posture of a Greek God. She is captivated by his eye contact has she looked him up and down. Next, she starts with small talk relating to the size of his arms and working behind the bar. Rebecca is a friend of Diane.
