Conflicts happen easily when people have different opinions on one subject and they think their opinions are better than others. When it comes to the 1920’s, it is viewed as a period of conflict. The 1920’s is often called as the “Roaring Twenties” and it had altered from an old nation to a modernized and developed America. During this period, numerous exciting events happened and changed American lifestyle. For example, new inventions and technology emerged, people living standard improved, and Jazz music flourished the nation. Although the “Roaring Twenties” has broken a lot of America old traditions, it is viewed as a period of conflict. The 1920’s is viewed as a period of conflict because many conflicting issues happened during that time.
The 1920s or the roaring twenties was post World War I and before the Great Depression. Unfortunately, not everything was pleasing for the 1920s, as this time period experienced social, economic, and cultural alterations that affected the lives of Americans. One reason I would not enjoy living in the 1920s was because during this time a law prohibition was passed abolishing the manufacture, sale, and transportation of alcohol and liquors which led to bootlegging and high crime.The 20’s were a very time changing era. After the war, the American people made the change from "old" ways to "new" ways. Many factors, such as new technology, fundamentalism, new looks and church led to tension between the old and the new. The 1920s were a time of conflicting viewpoints between traditional behaviors and new and changing attitudes.
The 1920s was a time of conservatism and it was a time of great social change. From the world of fashion to the world of politics, forces clashed to produce the most explosive decade of the century. It was the age of prohibition, it was the age of prosperity, and it was the age of downfall.
The 1920’s was a period of extremely economic growth and personal wealth. America was a striving nation and the American people had the potential to access products never manufactured before. Automobile were being made on an assembly line and were priced so that not just the rich had access to these vehicles, as well as, payment plans were made which gave the American people to purchase over time if they couldn't pay it all up front. Women during the First World War went to work in place of the men who went off to fight. When the men return the women did not give up their positions in the work force. Women being giving the responsibility outside the home gave them a more independent mindset, including the change of women's wardrobe, mainly in the shortening of their skirts.
During the 1920’s, many political issues were prominent within the United States, particularly within the federal government. Several problems included those regarding immigration, the eighteenth and nineteenth amendments to the constitution, and scandals, including the Teapot Dome Scandal. These specific topics contributed to the title, “The Roaring Twenties”, and also ultimately led into a depression.
The 1920’s were a time of growth and innovation. The workforce was getting bigger, women finally had the right to vote, and African Americans started to integrate and migrate from the south to the north looking for jobs. The result was a larger working class and the creation of a new, middle class. Society became more consumer-based, allotting for more leisure time. Times could not get any better. Business was booming, America was turning into a world power, skyscrapers dotted the skylines, and a new music started to sweep the nation. However, not everything was good. There was a huge spike in crime, and the heroes of society were also the biggest criminals. Due to Jazz Age and prohibition, the 1920’s were an intense time period with a newfound drive for innovation, the new woman, and a loss of structure.
The 20th century brought about many changes, with several events molding society in the way we know of it today. With the Great Depression, World War 2 , and the Cold War, America faced many internal and external threats, that endangered the American way of life and forced the country to reshape it’s views to move past events that seemed, at the time, to be the lowest points.
In the 1920’s, all these tremendous social, cultural and economic changes caused great tensions between the traditionalists and modernists, and “The Roaring Twenties” manifested all these radical changes and conflicts in a variety of ways correspondingly. Some of these were just limited characteristics of the times, while others would last for a relatively long period of time in the American society.

The 1920s were a time of political and social changes. Americans began transferring from farm life to city living and the economy kept growing. People all over the country were doing the same dances, listening to the same music, bought the same items and even talked the same. Although the 20’s brought much conflict, for some young people and cities, they were definitely roaring.

These so called heroes defined the era and were the role models for the people of this time period. They brought on hope and enlightenment after the horrific times that they had gone through with the depression and the war. The role of women changed, sports and entertainment stars were celebrated and modern technology changed America's landscape. The twenties were a time when people laughed more often than cried, partied more often than worked, and dreamed more often than faced reality.
The 1920’s was a decade of change in the United States. It all started when congress passed the eighteenth amendment; prohibition. This was a nationwide ban on the production, importation, and sale of alcoholic beverages. It was very ineffective and started more problems. Prohibition is the main reason the United States turned so much. It led to an increase in crime, and women changing their beliefs and way of life.
