In the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream, there are a lot of various sorts of love by using different situation in different diverse circumstances. However, we’re going to pick three types of love in this essay Parental Love, False love, and True love. Parental love is shown when Egeus want his daughter to marry a man she does not love. False love is shown when Theseus and Hippolyta are going to get married because he won her in a battle. True love shown when Hermia and Lysander relationship, they runned off despite her father wishes. love is uncertain but, the fact that you never know where it might end up is the mystery. Egeus was willing to kill his daughter because she disobeyed his order to wed Demetrius. Egeus loved his daughter loved his so much he rather her die they to be hurt. Second of all, Theseus saw Hippolyta as like a prize of some sort for conquering her people. Hippolyta, I woo'd thee with my sword And won thy love doing thee injuries, But I will wed thee in another key, With pomp, with triumph, and with revealing. (1.1.17-20) I feel as if Hippolyta was not in love with Theseus because of this statement, (by Theseus and Hippolyta) "Four happy days get Another moon-but O, methinks how slow This old moon wanes!"(1.1 2-4). “"Four nights will quickly steep themselves in the night, Four night will quickly dream away the time" ( 1.1 7-8 ). Hippolyta was not in a rush to be married because she was forced into marriage because Theseus triumph over her people. Regardless of whether it's an opposing her father and Demetrius, or something else they seem to make their relationship work. The famous statement, The course of true love never did run smooth. (1.1.134-136) was truly meant for them(Hermia and Lysander). Hermis also, demonstrated true love with this statement, “If then true lovers have ever been crossed, It stands as an edict in destiny. Then let us teach our trial patience”(1.1 150-152). Hermis was willing to die before she married Demetrius because they both were truly in love. Hermia and Lysander relationship went though a lot he gives us a list that can possibly separated true love if there were a sympathy in choice, War, death, or sickness did lay siege to it, Making it momentary as a sound, Swift as a shadow, short as any dream, Brief as the lightning in the collied night, That, in a spleen, unfolds both heaven and earth, And ere a man hath power to say "Behold!" The jaws of darkness do devour it up. So quick bright things come to confusion.
