Mechanic: changing the way we ride. The car a person drive defines one is, so why not make it unique. Personalizing cars is a passion that can change the way people look at them when they are driving down the street or when one of these projects is parked in front of a large group of people. Being a body shop worker is a high demand industry because you must be skilled in fixing and customizing cars. People request crazy and unique customizations on their vehicles and if you had to get the job done you must be very experienced. Although, being an auto body mechanic is not as one thinks the hard work put into fixing cars and receiving the gratitude from customers is what makes the job more exciting. The basic educational requirements to becoming “A 401k plan for retirement and health insurance plans is offered for auto mechanics” (Bashara, Richard. “Benefits for Auto Mechanics.”). Being a mechanic is a dangerous job leaving many employees with both high risk and low risk injuries. Having insurance is a necessity because injuries can happen unexpectedly. Retirement for mechanics come in handy because many mechanics start their job young and usually stay most of their life working as one. “At 60 years, old I’ve worked most of my life as a mechanic. I don’t want to retire but I probably will in about 4 years or so because I’m getting older by the minute. There’s always plenty of mechanics out there ready to take my job” (Newman, Bill). Bill has worked as a mechanic for quite a while, since he started working he set up a retirement plan for himself. As a soon to be retiree Bill expects to live a simple and well established life since working many years as mechanic. Setting up a retirement plan so young has helped in the long run by earning money to live a comfortable life after ending the mechanic years. As a result of having benefits as a mechanic helps in the long run allowing the employer to stay safe and secured during an injury, and staying well-grounded for future “Jay makes 60 percent of journeyman wage which increases as time goes by up to $21.50 an hour” (Oakes, Elizabeth H.). it might not seem like “Jay” makes enough money to support himself and his family in the economy, but the hour’s mechanics work is way more than an average job. So, the pay at the end of the week or two weeks is incredible enough for a family. Experienced mechanics make an average annual salary of $35,790 (“Benefits for Auto Mechanics”). Salary for mechanics differ for all employees. More experienced and knowledgeable employees make more than a new employee who has been working for a couple of months. As a mechanic providing for yourself is something to think about; however, the amount of money really depends on the experience applied on the job. As a result, mechanics work hard to please the customers that walk through the shop doors every single day. Fixing cars is a passion, only a few possess the admiration and courage to do. It is a revolution that will continue to prosper due to new technology advances in cars. The future belongs to those who prepare for it
