A Brief Comparison Of Kite Runner And Father

Imagine having an unhealthy relationship with either one of your parents. In the novel The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, briefly explains the relationship character Amir has with his father and struggles to maintain a decent relationship because of his love for literature. In Father by Alice Walker, narrator Alice explains her endeavor to be in good terms with her father also because of her love for literature. Both the novel and poem show the internal conflict both narrators go through to build a good bond with their father. Even though both narratives have similar plot structures, there are still differences regarding their families condition. To begin with, in The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini, main character and narrator Amir shows his experience trying to gain his father’s attention since he believes his father does not love him. On page 14 it states, “... I always felt that Baba hate me a little. And why not? After all, I had killed his beloved wife, his beautiful princess, hadn’t I? The least I could have done was to have had the decency to have turned out a little more like him.” This explains how Amir felt that his father hated him because as soon as his mom gave birth to him, she died. Although they have many similarities, they also have many differences. For example, in Father it gives readers an idea of how Alice’s family was regarding wealth. On paragraph 3 it states, “... Both my parents, poor people…” From this, one is certain that she came from a poor family. However, Amir’s dad is rich meaning Amir came from a wealthy family. This changes their situations and how much help they need financially and it also changes how they were
