Recommended: Impact of social media on teenagers

When people thought of a world of technology they saw endless possibilities. They saw the change it would bring to our world. I’m happy to tell you that it has changed our world for the better. With this technology it has opened a door to the world of social media. A new world we can live in. Opening my instagram app can leave me feeling validated, accomplished and accepted. I know exactly how many people like me based on my followers and likes. Posting a picture of myself and having someone comment how beautiful I am leaves me with more validation then a 90 on my essay. It doesn't mean as much as my friend looking me in the eyes and saying I look nice today. Instead those 30 likes on my post and 5 comments lets me know that I am loved and appreciated. If I get only 5 likes on my photo I know that something is wrong with me. I’m not beautiful or loved. I can’t possibly mean anything to anyone otherwise they would like my post. Sitting and laughing with my friends at the cafeteria table is irrelevant if I check my phone and see that they haven't liked my post. They haven't told me through a comment that they like my new shirt or haircut. Sure they told me at school but not validating it online means that it isn't true. Nobody cares about me. He must love me. He liked 3 out of 5 of my pictures so he must have a thing for me. Sure I don’t talk to him in person but he commented once on my picture the fire emoticon. So basically we are a couple. What more would I need from a guy in my life other than showing the world he likes me by liking my photos? I don't need a relationship that is built on trust and unconditional love but someone I can count on to be active on my account. I need the online validation more than the annoying benefits that come from a relationship. I don't need him to hold my hand or hold me tight. A committed relationship is so half a century
