Muslims, people of the religion of Islam, believe in one God, who they call Allah. They also believe in all his angels, creations, and in his prophets, who deliver his message. Some prophets include Adam, Enoch, Noah, Eber, Jesus, and many more. The most recent prophet was Muhammad and is considered the founder of Islam. There are said to be over one-hundred- and-twenty-four thousand prophets, but only twenty five are mentioned by name in the Quran. Muslims believe the Quran is based off of a tablet that exists in heaven with God. There are five pillars of Islam that all Muslims practice. Anybody that can wholeheartedly say” la ilaha illa'llah (there is no god but God), and Muhammadun rasul Allah (Muhammad is the messenger of God)” is considered a Muslim. Another pillar of Islam is Hajj. Hajj is highly encouraged for every Muslim at least once in their life. Hajj is a pilgrimage to mecca, the purpose of which is to pray to Allah and to see the kaaba. Of the five pillars of Islam Hajj is the only one not mandatory, though it’s highly encouraged. Muslims are credited with the creation of algebra, coffee, marching bands, torpedoes, the guitar, the lute, and much more. Without the creations from Islam, our world would be completely different. In Islam women have almost all the same rights as men. Women can own property, earn an income, keep their last name in marriage, and can do just about all the same things as men. Any person from any nation, ethnic group, and gender can be Muslim. In the quran there is no racial discrimination. The word Muslim actually means to surrender oneself to god. Islam was “founded” by the last prophet Muhammad. Muhammad was born in the year 570 and died June 8th, 632. Muhammad was the most recent and the last prophet of Islam.
