Introduction
The medical condition epididymitis is the inflammation of the epididymis, the tube that connects the testicle with the vas deferens (Dugdale). The epididymis carries sperm from the testis and stores mature sperm (Roiger). An inflamed epididymis is an acutely painful condition. “Epididymitis is most common in young men ages 19 - 35. It is a major cause of hospital admissions in the military” (Dugdale).
Disease Process and Etiology
Epididymitis is typically caused by the spread of a bacterial infection from the urethra, prostate, or bladder (Dugdale). In young heterosexual men, sexually transmitted diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia are the most common infections that cause epididymitis. Epididymitis in homosexual men, children and older men is most often caused by E. coli and similar infections (Dugdale). Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB) can cause epididymitis. Other bacteria, such as a small bacterium called ureaplasma, may also cause the condition. Another cause of epididymitis is the use of a medication called amiodarone, which prevents abnormal heart rhythms. Being uncircumcised, having recently had surgery, a history of structural problems in the urinary tract, regular use of a urethral catheter, sexual intercourse with more than one partner, and not using condoms are all risk factors for epididymitis (Dugdale). “Although the pathophysiology is still unproven, the most commonly accepted hypothesis [for development of epididymitis from whatever cause] is retrograde flow of infected urine into the ejaculatory duct” (Smith). Cases in the older-age group are at times related to obstructive urinary tract disease. Enteric organisms (meaning organisms found in the intestines) are also a common cause o...

...ally is no reduction in sexual or reproductive abilities. If not treated, or in some other cases, the condition can become long-term (chronic). In chronic cases, there is usually no swelling, but there is pain” (Smith).
Conclusion
Epididymitis can be an embarrassing condition for a man to contract. Still, it is imperative that the patient seek treatment before the condition progresses to worse problems. The most effective way to avoid this painful medical condition is to practice safe sex.

· injury: Peyronie's disease is more common after injury to the penis, such as penile fracture or forceful bending of the erect penis. It also occurs more frequently in men that give injections into the penis for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (impotence).
Sexual dysfunction can be defined as the inability to partake in or enjoy sexual relationship with one's partner as a result of underlying physical and/or psychological factors (Hoel, 1998). Physical attributions play a large part in both males and females and their ability to perform and enjoy sex. Males encounter several normal changes as they become older. A decrease in the hormone testosterone is very common amongst males with increasing age. Testosterone is beneficial because it gives a decrease in body fat, an increase in energy, including sexual energy, and an increase in lean muscle. These factors are important for physical attraction one has for another, definitely improving the outcome of sexual arousal. The size and firmness of the testicles may be reduced because of this decrease as well. The sexual response phase also changes with age. During the beginning of sex, an older man may experience a delay in his erection and when erect, the penis may not be as firm as when younger. ...

Doctors estimate that, in women, one third of the chlamydial infections result in PID (Pelvic Inflammatory Disease). Often these infections are not diagnosed until PID or other complications develop. In men, rarely, chlamydial infections may lead to pain or swelling in the scrotal area, which is a sign of epididymitis, an inflammation of a part of the male reproductive system located in the testicles. Left untreated, this condition, like PID in women, can cause infertility.
Describe the pathology/condition from a reputable source. Include its etiology (how, when and why it occurs)
Guys with Peyronies ailment mainly seek medical awareness for pain or bending of the penis throughout erection, which results from irritation and scarring in a unique part of the male anatomy often called the tunica albuginea. This is most almost always acquired at about age 55. A man will also be born with warp of the penis, although this is not Peyronies disease. In addition to producing curvature, Peyronies disease may trade the form of the erection in other ways: indentation, diameter discount, or lack of length.
In addition to affecting the gastrointestinal tract empacho can also involve the pelvic region of the body. When it affects the pelvic area it can result in problems such as vaginitis8. This occurs when there, “Is an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge, itching and pain.”12 Symptoms of vaginitis consist of, but are not limited to, pain during urination, discolored vaginal discharge, and intense vaginal itching.
Men usually experience symptoms such as painful or swollen testicles, or a white, yellow, or green discharge from the penis. Both genders will experience painful or burning sensations when urinating. When left untreated, gonorrhea it can cause pelvic inflammatory disease in women, inflammation of the testicles in men, and infertility in both men and women. (TBDHU, 2010)
Pelvic Inflammatory disease is the most common and serious infection that women can acquire. This disease has caused many problems to more than 1 million women per year, and billions of dollars are spent for diagnose and treatment. In addition, it is responsible for about 250,000 hospitalizations every year. Females that are 25 years or younger, and are sexually active are at risk for developing PID. Other risk factors include past history of pelvic inflammatory disease, multiple sexual partners, unprotected sex, sexual encounters at a young a...

The GSIRC highly encourage hands on experience for student interns. In order to have a sympathetic notion on what to do as an intern, the PEES courses taken previous semesters were remarkably accommodating when assisting the clients through rehabilitating workouts. In order to understand which anatomical part the patient is rehabilitating, anatomy and physiology were one of the vital subjects to be acquainted with. Having the understanding of the anatomy terms helped me, as an intern, to understand majority of the diagnosis shown on the patients’ charts. As the patients goes through their exercises it were also essential to understand the movements of each exercise such as abduction with external rotation or knee flexion. The course that corre...
