Global warming is the quick increase in the Earth's average temperature through the effects of greenhouse gases, such as burning fossil fuels, carbon dioxide emissions or deforestation which are known to keep heat from potentially escaping the Earth. Collected carbon dioxide and other air pollutants in the atmosphere act similarly to a barrier, that traps the suns heat causing the planet to become warmer. Due to air pollution, it contributes to global warming and also effecting the air quality. Through the actions of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA),the EPA is able to pursue in reducing our greenhouse gas emissions and improving our air quality.

With the help of the EPA, the EPA is aimed to develop standards for emissions of greenhouse gasses from stationary and transportation sources regarding the Clean Air Act. Under the Clean Air Act, the EPA with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is working to construct requirements to stop greenhouse gas emissions for new motor vehicles to reduce carbon dioxide emissions. The EPA is also developing standards to make sure that transporting fuel sold in the U.S. has a minimal amount of renewable fuel. As for stationary stations, the EPA is working towards to minimize the carbon pollution emitted by power plants. With these actions, the EPA's intent is to reduce carbon pollution.

The EPA will help improve air quality by striding to achieve production into new clean vehicles that have reduced greenhouse gas emissions and efficient fuel use. These are expected to save more than six billion barrels of oil by 2025 and minimize more than 3,100 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions. As for the Renewable Fuel Standard Program (RFS), through 2022 138 million metric tons of green house gasses will be reduced by replacing approximately 7 percent of the conventional annual diesel use and decreasing oil imports by $41.5 billion. In addition to that, on September 20, 2013 the EPA together with President Obama's Climate Action Plan was declared to reduce carbon pollution from power plants. The propose for the carbon pollution standards by the EPA for new power plants built in the future, is in process of engagement with States, stake holders and the public to create carbon pollution standard for existing power plants.

In conclusion, the EPA is working towards in reducing greenhouse gas emissions by improving the efficiency of power plants and vehicles. As a result, it will benefit individuals saving money for gas, clear air quality, promote jobs in green technology and reduce millions of amounts of damaging greenhouse gas emissions.
