Why go to stores and spend lots of money buying toys, jewelry, cups and many other plastic utilities when you can only press one button and print them out for yourself. This futuristic idea is not only innovating the scientific and technological world, but it is also innovating modern day households. The possibilities of 3D printing are extremely captivating, making this one of the most exciting innovations in recent times. 3D printing, also known as additive manufacturing, makes three-dimensional solid objects from a digital model or command. To picture how this process works, 3D printers use an additive process, where adding layers of a successive material creates an object. Traditional machines, however, uses a subtractive process by cutting or removing a specific material to shape the desired object. This mean of production can be known as a “democratization” of manufacturing since it promises a huge potential for creativity to let loose, offering a realistic possibility for everyone to produce almost any type of object. With over one-hundred different materials a 3D printer can print in, the possibilities of this new type of technology are marveling. For this reason, this new technological revolution demonstrates great potential because we will be able to use it as a household level of production, it will foster economic growth and it will be of great interest to the public.
The idea of creating and printing customized items for ones home, is no longer one found in a science fiction novel. 3D printers prove to be a new technological revolution that demonstrates great potential because we will be able to use it as a household level of production, it will foster economic growth and it will greatly interest the public. The introduction of these new printers will revolutionize the way in which we view technology, manufacturing, labor, production efficiency and even transportation. If we think about the potential of printing over raw materials, like metals, then building projects and even homes will be done at a higher efficiency and speed. As this type of technology becomes fast, cheap and more sophisticated, it will greatly impact industries, the global economy and even our households. The last ten years of technological advances have been captivating, but with this new innovation, who knows how thrilling our future will be.
In additive manufacturing, parts are produced by slicing a CAD model into thin layers and then depositing material one layer at a time to create the 3D part. While current methods are very precise and have high resolutions, I have identified 3 main limitations of additive manufacturing.
3D printing has the potential to revolutionize the way we make almost everything. 3D printing was invented in the mid 1980s and was initially known as additive manufacturing. It consists of the fabrication of products through the use of printers which either employ lasers to burn materials (sintering) or place layer upon layer of material (known as stereolithography), eventually resulting in a finished item. Unlike the traditional manufacturing process, which involves milling, drilling, grinding or forging molded items to make the final product, 3D printing “forms” the product layer by layer. There are many different technological variants but almost every existing, 3D printing machine functions in a similar way: a 3D computer-aided engineering (CAD) file is sliced into a series of 2D planar sections and these are deposited by the printer, one above the other, to construct the part.

In a typical metal manufacturing, for example, it can create objects with an unique honeycomb structure, while bioprinting on other hand can create organs with an internal network of blood vessels. But there are some limitations of 3D printing currently, which vary by printing technique, include limited object size, relatively slow build speed, limited resolution or object detail, high materials cost and, in some cases, limited strength of object. However, with recent advancement it is possible to overcome these limitations.

The topic I have selected for my essay will be on 3D printing in education, I chose this emerging technology because of my place of work and how 3D printing may be involved their within the next few years. This would require me to research how 3D printers work and how to operate them. I also believe that having 3D printers in schools will generate a new wave of creative children in the future. In this essay I will be showing how a 3D printer works and how the machines operate. I will be providing example on why I think 3D printing is important for education, as well as showing what hurdles 3D printing has to overcome in regards to Intellectual property rights and the legality of what you can and cannot print. In this essay I am going to point out the advantages of what a 3D printer can achieve for the future and how it can possibly shape the way we educate our children.
After learning all this about 3D printing my conclusion is I like the use of it, and sometimes it is an easier way to produce 3D models, but it still has to be developed a lot, since the prices are yet not so affordable and I don’t think that the idea of having everything 3D printed is good, since the upcoming generations will lose the value of handmade and artisanal stuff and many talented people will lose their job, just because now everything is in the hands of technology and new machines, that are able to do anything that seems impossible to be done by

The printing press was invented over five-hundred years ago and was the first step in transforming societal literacy. Around 1440, the printing press was invented by the German Johannes Gutenberg, who was the first to design a technique that has the ability to transform the ink from the movable type to paper. Basic development of the printing press was, the hand mold which is the process that enabled the production of metal movable types. Printing presses with this movable type mechanism increased the rates at which copies of books
