Elvis was born to Gladys and Vernon Presley, a farming family in Mississippi, on January 8, 1935. Originally Elvis Aron Presley was a twin, however, his brother Jesse died after birth (Austin 1994). A close knit family, Elvis and his family attended the Assembly of God Church where his love of music started to blossom (EPE 2014). Growing up his family had many financial struggles. Despite this, at age eleven, Elvis received his first instrument, a guitar. Shortly after, Vernon Presley struggled to hold down a job in Mississippi. He made the decisive decision to uproot the family to Memphis, Tennessee (Hirshberg 1995).
Elvis begins to attend high school and helps support his family financially by taking various jobs. After graduating high school, Elvis begins to work at Parker Machinists Shop. While employed there, he decides to stop by the Memphis Recording Service to create a record (EPE 2014). Sam Phillips, the owner of Memphis Recording Service, with the persuasion of his assistant Marion Keisker, calls Elvis to record a song called, “Without You”. Sam is not initially impressed by Elvis’ voice and introduces him to Scotty Moore, a guitarist, and Bill Black, a bassist. He insists that they rehearse together and return when they put something together. Shortly after, Sun label puts out Elvis’ first singles (Hirshberg 1995).
The three gentlemen decide to perform together. They play gigs at small clubs and have moderate success. Eventually Elvis has one appearance on the Grand Ole Opry. Elvis stated he was suffering from glaucoma, hypertension, an enlarged heart, clogged arteries and a twisted colon. He was on several different prescriptions which included a barbiturate and Quaalude (Hirshberg 1995).On August 16, 1977, Elvis returns to Graceland after visiting his dentist. Late that morning, Elvis Presley dies from heart failure. His funeral is held two days later (EPE 2014).

Elvis grew up into a common laid back family. Elvis Aron Presley was born on January 8th 1935. He later changed his middle name to Aaron the more common way to spell that name. His parents were Vernon and Gladys Presley. He was born into a two-room house in Tupelo Mississippi. He also had a stillborn brother named Jessie Garon. Jessie would have been the identical twin brother of Elvis. This left Elvis to be the only child for Vernon and Gladys Presley.
At the age of nineteen years old Presley began his music performing at the “Hillbilly Cat.” After being discovered Presley signed with Sun Records in Memphis, Tennessee in 1954. Then his contract was sold in 1955 to RCA Victor. His musical influences were a mix of multiple genres. He was influenced by gospel threw church; black R&B threw Beale Street in Memphis. He combined all the genres to create the early rock n roll that would arouse many people around the world.

A tribute to Elvis is done while Richard sings the songs “American Trilogy”, all Elvis fans are invited to the front were Richard stands. The people form a half moon circle with Richard standing in the middle. The American Flag with Elvis’ picture in the center of it is held up and the people join their hands together. While rocking back and forth on Richard’s command hands are raised high in the air until the end of the song. Naturally, he was known for his singing, acting and songwriting. Presley was also known as “The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.” However, he did not compose Jailhouse Rock. The single, Jailhouse Rock was originally released in September of 1957 and reached # 1 on October 21st, 1957. Mike Stoller composed the song and was writing partners with Jerry Leiber. Stoller was born in Belle Harbor, Long Island. He was dedicated to writing songs mainly for genres, such as R&B and the Blues. Clearly, the music speaks of dancing and jamming to music in jail. Around this time, the song Jailhouse Rock was created to be used in an Elvis Presley movie. Elvis was to play a prisoner who becomes a star after he gets out of prison. Solely, the song was meant to better illustrate a movie Elvis was in at the time and the song also inspired the name for the film. As this song was released, America was going through the Civil war. Imagine, it’s the seventeenth of August, the year is 1977. You are drinking your morning coffee and listening to the radio, which happens to be a song by the King of Rock and Roll. As you reach for the daily newspaper and read the top headline. You mutter the words, “Elvis Presley dies and the age of Rock is over.” This cannot be real, Elvis Presley cannot be dead. Nobody wanted to believe that the death of Elvis was real, which concluded in the conspiracy theory of Elvis faking his death. Elvis was not dead, in fact, he was very much alive.
