Electric Cars
Our generation reached a global environmental crisis. There's a limited amount of oil left. Pollution is contributing of global warming. Many of these problems are threatening our most popular form of transportation, the automobile. Many manufacturers are developing new technologies for cars to keep them environmentally friendly and effective. The newest form of transportation are electric powered cars. Many carmakers are producing different types of electric vehicles, to achieve certain degrees of environmental friendliness, to make the best alternative vehicle for the upcoming years. The one question that people are asking - is the electric car is a practical, effective, and a cost reasonable car, for it to replace the gasoline engine?

To start off, there are many different types of electric vehicles and there are many ways to power them. The three most popular are the hybrid gasoline engine, all-electric cars, and the hydrogen powered cars. All of these types have an electric motor powering the car. The differences are in performance, emissions, range, and how the energy is received and stored. To explain each type, one model will be paired with each kind of electric car to give an example of each variation.

General Motors’ Bob Lutz wasn’t a big fan of the EV. The first attempt at an all electric car was the EV1 by GM. It was swift, good looking, and powered exclusively with electricity. Owners of the EV1 claimed that the car was amazing. Not only was it comfortable, but it was also saving the planet. Shortly after the release, GM lost faith in the electric car and got rid of them. Is the electric car is a practical, effective, and a cost reasonable car, for it to replace the gasoline engine? Absolutely. The electric car, whether it is hybrid, all-electric or hydrogen, it has a bright future with the myriad of environmental problems we face today. The hybrid still maintains dependence on gasoline. The all-electric version needs a clean grid to be considered eco-friendly. The hydrogen is a out of reach price wise and there aren’t many of hydrogen stations now. But for now, the all-electric car is the best alternative to a gasoline powered automobile if you want a practical, effective and a cost reasonable vehicle.
