There is damage being done to the environment everywhere right this very moment. What is causing the damage? Global climate change contributes a great amount of devastation to the world every day. This is important because the change is affecting humans, animals, plants and just about anything else that is living. As a result of global climate change, regions, ecosystems, and agriculture will be greatly affected.
There are many things causing global climate change such as the burning of fossil fuels and deforestation. One may notice that these are both human-related activities. Humans contribute to a vast amount of damage through daily activities. Burning fossil fuels means using energy that is made up of decayed animals and plant matter. These fuels are also known as mineral fuels. “When we extract and burn fossil fuels such as coal or petroleum, we cause the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other heat-trapping ‘greenhouse gasses’ into the atmosphere” (Upham). This means that humans are causing harmful gasses to enter the atmosphere by using fuels like oil and coal. Dan Upham of the Environmental Defense Fund also states that natural levels of carbon dioxide are thirty percent higher than the reported levels in eight-hundred thousand years. This shows the increase in carbon dioxide levels in the air over the course of time. Also reported by Upham, the carbon dioxide in the atmosphere comes mainly from coal and oil. This is discovered by looking at the chemical composition of the CO2 which contains a particular fingerprint. The burning of fossil fuels contributes to global climate change as well as deforestation.
Deforestation also adds to global climate change. Clearing forests discharges considerable amounts of carbon ...

Essay on Global Warming: The Effects of Climate Change - Climate change is a long-term alteration in the statistical distribution of weather pattern over periods ranging from decades to millions of years. The world is currently experiencing drastic change in temperature. This change can be felt in the tropical climate areas where the weather is getting hotter and hotter every day. The change in global temperatures and precipitation over time is due to natural variability or to human activity. It is also caused by accumulation of greenhouse effects (Arrhenius, 1896)....   [tags: environment, pollution, global warming] 1416 words

The Effects of CO2 in Climate Change Essay - When discussing the topic of climate change, it is essential to begin with a brief definition of climate change to know exactly what it is. Anup Shah of globalissues.org defines climate change as “an increase in average global temperatures…caused by the increase in greenhouse gasses such as Carbon Dioxide, or CO2” (Shah, 2014). This process, of course, is global warming which, in turn, leads to climate change. Although climate change is considered one of the most significant threats facing the world today, there are many groups doing what they can to assist in slowing the climate change process or potentially halt it all together....   [tags: greenhouse, carbon dioxide, global warming]

Essay on The Effects of Global Warming on Our Planet - The Effects of Global Warming on Our Planet Global warming, professionally also called the climate change represents nowadays a critical global issue posing a serious potential threat. This simply means that the average temperature of our planet is slowly rising. This however is not due to the natural causes as it was in the past but due to people and their activities, which permit the so-called greenhouse gases to be emitted into the atmosphere. This has already taken its toll in terms of altering the weather and subsequently the conditions of the whole planet and might also have consequences for the future....   [tags: Environmental Global Climate Change]

Essay The causes and effects of Global Warming - The causes and effects of Global Warming The Earth has experienced considerable climate change for the last several centuries. There have been many explanations toward the main causes of the increased warming of the planet, but according to IPCC climate report: human impact is unequivocal. The recent weather events that Canada has experienced in Toronto and Calgary have proven Canada is at great risk from the climate change. A UN panel said it was more certain than ever that humans were the cause of global warming and they also predicted temperatures could rise from 0.3 to 4.8 degrees Celsius in this century....   [tags: climate change, temperature]

Essay Global Warming and Its Effects - Global warming is an increase in the earth's temperature due to fossil fuels, industry, and agricultural processes caused by human, natural, and other gas emissions. This results in an increased emission of greenhouse gases. Climate changes occur in our earth's atmosphere due to a buildup of greenhouse gases. Greenhouse gases can occur naturally as well as a result of human activities. Problems can occur when higher concentrations of greenhouse gases are present in our atmosphere because they have enhanced our earth's heat trapping capability....   [tags: Environmental Global Climate Change] 618 words
