Indonesia is a country in south-east Asia. It has the world’s highest population of Muslims and is the world’s 4th most populous country. Its capital is Jakarta. Having its world rank at 18th by economy, 15th largest in purchasing parity respectively, thus becoming a slowly progressive country.
In this essay, I will be talking about how the changes in demographic characteristics of Indonesia over the past 10 years can affect its economy in terms of unemployment, GDP (Gross Domestic Product), and poverty. Unemployment is an economic condition marked by the fact that individuals seeking jobs but remained unhired. A country's GDP is the total market value of all final goods and services produced in a country. Poverty is when the income of people is below the GNP (Gross National Product) per capita of a country with scarcity of means and subsistence.
Population growth is the change in population over a period of time. It happens due to a number of factors such as standard of living, cultural factors, and government policies. When the standard of living become better such as the improvement of social conditions ( shelter, sanitation, clean water , health care and etc) death rate and birth rate reduce as more people become inclined to have fewer children. As standard of living increases, there will be more immigrants thus an increase in population. Government policies which encourage people to have lesser or more children also has a significant effect on birth rate too.
The population growth of Indonesia has been reducing at a steady rate since 2000 up till 2010. As its population growth rate decreases, its labour force is also decreasing and as a result, there will be more job opportunities for people. As job oppor...

...would also mean a rise in poverty, and a rise in poverty would reduce the growth of GDP. To avoid this, the government should lower taxes to attract multi national companies to Indonesia thus reducing unemployment. By doing the actions mentioned, Indonesia can greatly improve its economy.

One of the contemporary challenges facing policy makers is the incidence and spatial concentration of poverty. The multiple dimensions of poverty includes: levels of employment, education, incidence of poor health, poverty levels, and macroeconomic conditions. In this report we will examine two of them: employment rate and education to find out if countries can reduce poverty level by increasing employment rate and increasing number of people who finish at least upper secondary education. Moreover, we will find out what is more important to increase employment rate or increase number of people who finish secondary education to decrease poverty level in the countries. To find out all these things we will summarise the information, using descriptive statistics, test relationship between the variables using correlation and regression which will answer our questions.
In order for any country to survive in comparison to another developed country they must be able to grow and sustain a healthy and flourishing economy. This paper is designed to give a detailed insight of economic growth and the sectors that influence economic growth. Economic growth in a country is essential to the reduction of poverty, without such reduction; poverty would continue to increase therefore economic growth is inevitable. Through economic growth, it is also an aid in the reduction of the unemployment rate and it also helps to reduce the budget deficit of the government. Economic growth can also encourage better living standards for all it is citizens because with economic growth there are improvements in the public sectors, educational and healthcare facilities. Unemployment in Vanuatu is one of the problems that affect most of the young people today. Vanuatu is an island state in the Pacific where people find it very difficult to get a good qualify job. Thus, earning money for survival becomes very difficult. For instance, paying for school fees, food, clothes and other things that are needed inside the home. Unemployment is defined as a person who is actively searching for employment and is unable to find work. According to Simions he states that “life was desperately hard for people who were unemployed” (Simions, M.1972, p.131). In addition, it is either because the person is not well educated or has a very narrow knowledge about a particular subject.
