Thanks to media, Crime Scene Investigator is a popular television show worldwide. The televised murder series has caused increased interest in the world of examining crime scenes. However, long before CSI became a hit televised series, the western civilizations were finding their own way to solve crimes using science through collecting, identifying and analyzing evidence.
Many people would say that the Romans were the first for many things. In 44 B.C., a Roman physician, Antistius performed the first autopsy on the famous Juilius Caesar. Brutus and Cassius led the plot to kill Caesar where he was stabbed twenty-three times. In an effort to avoid one individual being held for the murder of Caesar the physician was asked to examine the body and determine which of the injuries caused the death of Caesar. After careful examination, Antistius believed it was the second stab wound to Caesar’s heart was the reason for his brutal death. A hundred years later, a Roman speaker and jurist proved a blind man was framed for the murder of his own mother based off of the bloody handprints left at the crime science.
As time moved on, medical advances in forensic science improved. During the 13th century a book written by Song Chi, called Washing Away of Wrongs, was published for the benefit of coroners. The Chinese book describes how to determine the death of victim, what type of blade was used on a victim with an autopsy on the corpse and Song Chi’s own experiences. ...olving is skill that I love to do. Anytime there’s a problem or mystery I am usually the first person to figure out the answer or solution. I do not mind the horrific crime scenes, unless they pertain to children. I am use to seeing blood and broken body parts, since my time as a certified nursing assistant. When it comes down to it I want to be the person to find out who committed the crime. I want to be able to catch the perpetrator.
For the most part, the history of a forensic investigator has been around since B.C. The advancements have grown from the discovery of the fingerprint to having hand-held DNA analyzers like cell phones generating a person’s fingerprint and send it to a databank. The education level does not require anymore than a four-year degree with excellent benefits and even though there are quit a few risks, I think the joys out weigh the cons.
