The Dutch Tulip Crisis of the 1630’s was a socio-economic disaster caused by greed and opportunity. It would seem that those words when taken out of context and examined today seem to describe recent and current speculative bubbles we have experienced in modern day society. Story has it that “in the 1630s a sailor was thrown in a Dutch jail for eating what he thought was an onion. That onion was in fact a tulip bulb. The cost of the sailor’s gluttony was equivalent to the cost of feeding an entire crew for twelve months” (Economist.com). While this story is probably just urban legend, herein lies the problem with the tulip crisis, it happened so long ago that many of the analysis is just pure speculation and “the line between fact and fiction is blurred” (Economist.com). That’s not to say that it still cannot be used as a valuable lesson into not letting us as human beings repeat such a dreaded type of history, but must be taken with a grain of salt as well during such analysis.

Farmer markets have always been around and a strong reason to believe that they will still be around long after our time. There are several reasons why this age old tradition still exitst today and revolves around a very common question, “What does a buyer find important when they are about to buy food to be consumed, or how the produce is grown/manufactured, processed, marketed, and distributed. Supporting farmer markets and ensuring fair trade among the dealer and the seller can help promote healthier lives while building stronger communities. There are several reasons to support a community’s farmer market event because buying true locally grown food can allows the buyer to have options to food that is picked fresh and tastes better than what is sold in the supermarkets. Another benefit to farmers markets is that the food is sustainable, flavorful, supports local farms, and also in some areas, part of the proceeds goes to the unfortunate within that community. With the addition of the food generally being more flavorful, locally grown food is adapted to the climate in which it was grown, and can remain fresh longer than that of an imported produce grown in a different climate. Final...

“At the end of the rainbow waited the pot of gold. But rainbows were made of faint and fragile gossamer-and gold weighed a ton-and since the world began, gold was the reason to do most anything.”- V.C Andrews. The book that is being evaluated is Flowers in the Attic by V.C Andrews. It is about a family who goes to live at their grandparent’s house after the death of their father. They do this because their mother must win her inheritance back after she does a disgraceful thing. While there, the children must live in one room and the attic as to not be seen by their grandfather. The mother hides them because her father does not know she has children and if he finds out he will remove her from his will. In the attic they suffer from lack of sunlight, education, and malnutrition and soon are forgotten by their mother. The mindsets that will be evaluated are of the two older children, Cathy and Chris. They start with a general growth mindset in which they have a general positive outlook on life and always hope for their father’s return.
There were fierce competitions among the producers that have scale and scope of operations which were similar to each other. For instance, the Pepsi Co. and Coca Cola companies have developed the strategy and infrastructure, which are hard for the local sellers to complete with them. However, there were still many producers including new entrants that try to access the market and compete seriously with low price and differentiation- strategies among rival...
The movement particularly emphasizes on exports from developing countries to developed countries, with products such as handicrafts, coffee, cocoa, sugar, tea, bananas, honey, cotton, wine, fresh fruit, chocolate, flowers and gold. Moreover, coffee is one of the most widely traded goods in the world. For many developing countries, coffee trade is an important source of income. Producers can provide a better trading and improve terms of trade. Moreover, this allows producers to improve workers’ living environment and future life in general (De Pelsmacker, Driessen and Rayp, 2005).
