There were many people who lived in Mexico before the Spanish came. In this essay I have told you about those people. About how Spain came to rule Mexico. And about how Mexico became how it is today. Mexico is a country with a deep culture that shows all these things.
According to Hofstede’s cultural dimensions, Mexico has high scores of Power Distance, Uncertainty Avoidance, and Masculinity. We can tell from the scores that Mexico is a hierarchical society that people tend to work and live in orders, which means that there are levels among people and they try to fit into their own positions; people try to avoid unknowns and unwilling to take risks; and gap of values between men and women does exist in Mexico, competition, achievement, and success are emphasized in this society so people want to be the best instead of liking what they do. With low scores of Individualism and Long-term Orientation, Mexico is considered a collectivistic society with a normative culture. It emphasizes loyalty and strong relationships
One of the value is unity or specifically “unity is strength” (Mexican Family Culture: Family…). This is done by having strong ties with family and helping out family member when needed (Mexico). Another, is loyalty above all and honor. Having honor means to follow etiquette rules and the hierarchical structure. The Hierarchical structure goes friend, family and business (Mexico). There are all different way you greet or interact with each. There are also ways to greet people based on gender. A male will greet someone by shaking someone hand and if they are greeting friends or family, he greets them with a hug or a pat on the back (A Look at Mexican Language…). A woman would pat the person she is greeting on the shoulder or arm. If they are greeting a friend or family then she would pat them on the back (A Look at Mexican Language…). Another part of etiquette is table manners. These are important not to be disrespectful and to not bring dishonor. When at the table hands must always be showing, the men always give toasts and it is seen as polite to leave some food on the plate that was being used (A Look at Mexican Language…). To go more with etiquette, there is gift-giving etiquette. Moreover, when giving flower make sure it is not marigolds or red flower, they are seen as death and disrespectful. On the other hand giving white flower are a great gift and is seen as an
When we hear discussions or read articles about drug wars, killings, and illegal immigration into the United States, many of us immediately think of Mexico. As a nation, Mexico is a much greater country than these commonly referred to issues. Mexico is a country with a broad history, deep family culture, and an economy fueled by oil and tourism. The United States Department of State (USDS) offers a broad range of information on countries outside the US, including Mexico. I found a wealth of information about Mexico through the USDS Background Note provided on their website located at www.state.gov. I will outline for you the key information found in this report, and others, related to the Mexican economy, culture, and more.
Mexico is a Latin American country just south of the USA. Mexico is a country that has tremendous influence on the USA. This is mostly due to the fact that it is so close. Another reason is that a large number of Mexicans live in the USA, both legally and illegally. Many Mexicans come to the USA to find work and send money back to their family still living in Mexico. Because of this close relationship Mexican culture has made a great impact on the USA. In this brief paper about Mexico I will discuss its history, geography, cultural contribution to the USA, a few items about the negative side of the country, and end with a few concluding remarks.

Media portrayal of Mexico City is very alarming. Americans are fearful to have any kind of communication or connections with the city. Especially when they hear the media talk about the high volume of violence occurring in Mexico City. It affects the interest of great corporations, and the partnership with the United States and many other countries that might want any kind of engagement with the City. Mexico City is home of beautiful culture and traditional history, the attractions are the main reason why tourists visit, but few years ago there has been a decline in tourist rates. All of the mention reasons are the aspects that are shaping Mexico City today.
It is considered unfriendly to back up when a Mexican approaches you in conversation. You must be aware of the tone of voice you use when in Mexico. Using a quick pace or a sharp or forceful tone will make you come across unfavorably. Eye contact is not as direct or long as in the United States. Mexicans are status conscientious so what you wear or what you drive makes a clear statement about who you are in society. When attending a social event you should arrive 30 minutes late. Arriving earlier is considered rude. At small parties your host will introduce you. At large parties you may introduce yourself. When dining you should not sit until you are told where to sit and you should not eat until the hostess starts. It is polite to keep both of your hands visible while eating and to leave some food on your plate when finished. Only men are permitt...
All walks of life are presented, from prevailing businessmen of white-collar status, to those of the working class and labor industry, as well as individuals who deal in the black market of smuggling illegal immigrants across the border into the U.S. Hellman’s work explores the subject of Mexico’s economic situation in the 1990s. NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement) closely tied the United States and Mexico during this period, as well as similar policies such as GATT (General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade) that were also created. These issues pertaining to economic policies between the two nations, Mexico and the United States are seen highlighted throughout her work.
Being so naïve about the country I came from being influenced by the way other people look at Mexico made me ashamed of who I was. Even taking it as far as dreading the color of my skin and despising the blood that ran through my veins. Not knowing of course that blood and the way I am and look is what ties me to my ancestors and my future family. Now, having the ability to block out the unnecessary opinions of outsiders and finally having the courage to love myself and my roots; I’m able to fill my own head with information. Learning from how people in Mexico treated the land like a part a part of themselves, I decided that I’m as important as the seasonal fruits, as intricate as el mole, sweet life the pineapple, and as bright and persuading as the sunflower. For the first time everything I see and am is as beautiful as it should be.
