Report #2: Do Childrens Toys Reflect Their Information and Sensory Processing Abilities
There were two choices that I've made that I felt were the best choices for toys that would aid in the psychological developments of infants. One of the choices that I choose were books. I didn't choose a specific book but books in general that are appropriate for the childs age. The reason that I made this first choice is because I feel that books can be used to help develop a childs perceptual skills, while at the same time, help develop their literacy skills from an early age. When parents expose their children to literature, even before they know how to read, speak, or write, they are helping the child develop their language, reading, and perceptual abilities. "Early reading promotes early literacy."- (Infants & Toddlers: How To Read To Very Young Children | Scholastic.com. (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/article/infants-toddlers-how-read-very-young-children) Books that contain sounds of words and animal sounds, in my opinion, are among the most effective ways for parents to help their infants and little ones to develop their language skills. Of course, common sense would tell you that parents setting aside time to read to their children, is the best way to encourage language and literary development.- (Reading Books to Babies. (n.d.).
