The Development of Photography

Photography has developed immensely throughout the years, and will continue to develop through the use of digital cameras, the constant sharing and sending of photographs, and the availability of editing. Photography is a wonderful tool. Photography helps us document our lives, and remember past experiences. Photography has had a long journey from the very first photograph, to the constant sharing of digital photos, and who knows what the future of photography holds.
Light is the basis of photography. One fact that everybody knows is that white light is actually made up of seven different colors. Most of us learned this little fact in our middle school science class. However people did not used to know this. It was not until 1666 when Isaac Newton discovered this now well known fact (Cross). Thomas Young came up with the idea of the 3 primary colors of light (Cross). In 1801 Young said that green, red, and violet come together to create the spectrum (Cross). There have been numerous experiments with light. The majority of these experiments probably have not even been recorded, however many of them have. The Niecpce brothers experimented with light-sensitive materials to make images in the year 1816 (Cross). In England in the year 1790 Thomas Wedgewood sensitized leather with silver nitrate, put objects on the leather and made photo grams (Cross). Many people experimented and played with light, we can thank all of those people for discovering things to make up what we now know about light.
The idea of the camera has evolved a lot over the centuries. The very first type of camera was the camera obscure (Cross). This camera of sorts was described almost 500 years ago in 1515 by Leonardo Da Vinci (Cross). The camera obscure had tw...

... the only way to truly stop a moment in time. One can always look back on old photos and remember exactly what was happening when that picture was taken. Photography relates directly to memory and happy memories are an important part of life. Photography is such a good thing to have in life; it has developed so much for the better just within the past twenty years. THE END!!!!!
