ONE BODY IN CHRIST

Romans 12:4-5, 1 Corinthians 12:1-31

Just as the body is one and has many members, all the members form one body. All the saints constitute one body; the body of Christ. One Spirit animates the whole body; we were all given to drink into one Spirit; the Holy Spirit gives life to all. The members have different functions; each member has a specific role in the body. The goal of the members is to contribute to the wellbeing of the whole body. Each member is important to the body; therefore, the body is not one member but many. The Holy Spirit empowers the members of the body; He gives to each member a function and a position in the body. To each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the profit of all. There are many members but only One Spirit who gives life to all. There are various kinds of workings but only One Spirit who empowers all. The saints form one body which is known as the universal church of Christ. The universal church is made up of all the believers of all the generations.
The saints are living stones that form “a living House”. The Holy Spirit is the chief of the church; He is the head of the church. He coordinates and controls everything in the church.

However, the disciples were merely instruments to display the Holy Spirit’s power among men. It was the power of the Holy Spirit that worked through them. The disciples did all things in the Name of Jesus and for the glory of Jesus. They spoke not of their words but what they received from God. Like the angels, the disciples refused to receive worship from people because it was the Holy Spirit’s power that works all those deeds.
