Designer Babies: Way Too Far from Perfection

It is very usual to see a couple adjusting the features for their dream house up to their budge, however, due to the devolvement biotechnology, choosing the characteristic for a dream child is could be up to a couple’s budge too. Just imagine go to a genetic engineer specialist doctor’s office and being asked for the characteristic that you want for your next child. Sex? Male. Height? Six and a half food. Eye Color? Green. IQ? A genius please. Athletic? Yes, next Michael Phelps. Diseases? No one please. Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) has been used for medical purposes such as screening embryos for life-threatening diseases, but it can also be used to create designer babies. As futuristic as sound, the genetic engineering scientists are at the edges of making true the idea of shopping for a perfect child, which, once thought to be only possible to see in science-fiction movies. The Christian Science Monitor magazine reported.
“Recent technology has allowed scientists to be able to map the DNA of a fetus. This new technology might allow parents to prenatally change disease-causing genes or even pick certain characteristics they would like their child to have”.
However, this new technology is making the society discuss about the ethical issues that involves genetic engineering. On the other hand, altering the human genome demonstrated that could help to prevent hereditary diseases, but it is used as to create "designer babies" with enhanced appearance, athletic ability, and intelligence is completely unethical and unnatural. On other words, the parents create/customize a perfect child that fits to their lifestyle and desires.
