... a limit on beauty, ugly, and prettiness. It's all about how we present ourselves to the world. Essay on The Definition of Beauty Throughout the Centuries - Dangerous Ideals A woman may ask herself, "what traits are considered beautiful?" Over the years, the most sought after qualities could easily be viewed as long light blonde, ruby red, or midnight black hair, skin as milky as ivory, lips as red as a cherry, a bust as perky as ripe melons, a waist as seamless as an hourglass, hips that are voluptuous and round, all with legs as long as stilts. The flawless image of Jessica Rabbit walking into a smoke filled room containing men who gawk, trip, and even fight their way over each other, just to catch a glimpse of this exotic, beautiful, sensual woman is the epitome of sexuality....   [tags: epitome of beauty, pop culture]

An Extended Definition of Beauty Essay - The subjective element of beauty involves judgment, not opinion. Many people feel beauty is only something seen by the eyes. St. Thomas Aquinas views beauty in both the supernatural and natural orders. Aquinas lists the attributes of beauty to be found in nature. These are; unity, proportion, and clarity. We will see how these attributes of beauty are seen through the eye and felt by the heart. To begin, the concept of unity follows the Aristotelian proposition that nothing can be added to or taken away from a perfect work of art....   [tags: Aquinas, beauty and dress]

To narrow down this broad subject, one must view a plethora of information on the definition of beauty. In today's society scientists have included a number of statistics about how the real world views a person. However, these studies show that society can be harsh on the concept of beauty when criticizing a person on how they look on the outside. Those who claim to know what true beauty is and impel humanity to do and be what they want, as if people were their puppets. Television, magazines, and advertisements play an immense role in this. Society´s High Definition of Beauty Essay - As a child who has read ‘Beauty and the Beast’ I have been taught that looks ‘looks don’t matter’, ‘beauty is in the eye of the beholder’ and ‘true beauty is inner beauty’. However, in our modern-day society the very idea of perfection and beauty seems to be contradicted. Everywhere we look we see an image of impossible perfection, whether it be girls in magazines or on the internet. Have you ever looked at one of these magazines and wished that you had the perfect, unblemished skin, a thin, curvy body with a caramel tan and a flat stomach, like the girl posing in one of these pictures....   [tags: Photoshop, Unrealistic, Flawless]
