The Nephilim are usually known as the giants and offspring of spiritual beings with humans. They are primarily described in Genesis from the Bible and have been misunderstood and misinterpreted over the years. Theologians, scientists, and Christians have come up with various theories on who the Nephilim really are and where they came from. Due to these distinct beliefs over this controversial topic, religions all over the world including, different cultural backgrounds such as Greek mythology, have taken the Nephilim and adapted their understanding and interpretation of the scripture of the Nephilim’s identity to their own doctrines. Understanding who the Nephilim really were can help one comprehend more about the Creation, God, and the spiritual world surrounding us.
Nephilim are first introduced in the book Genesis from the Bible. God had already created the universe, the earth, and human beings. The first appearance of the Nephilim is during Noah’s time. Genesis chapter five describes Adam’s descendants, which contains the sons, grandsons, and relatives of Adam. The Bible gives a good picture of the family lineage coming from Adam and how these people began to multiply, increasing their population. They started to form clans and tribes which spread out into the earth. Genesis chapter six begins by describing man’s evilness and wickedness on earth. This is where we find a different kind of people called the “Nephilim.” The word “Nephilim” is translated to “giants” in Hebrew. It is derived from the word “nephal” which means fallen. Both passages give detailed information, specific instructions, and an interesting background about gold mining. These passages use different strategies to help the reader perceive the history and process. These strategies may include using specific dates of when the gold rush took place, information to help the reader picture the setting of where to find gold, and also teaches the process step by step.
The stories about women in the bible illustrate the importance of their role and contribution to society. Women were slaves, concubines, and child bearers; they were also wives, matriarchs, and prophets. Although, some women had less important titles than others each served a purpose. Even if the Bible does not explain God’s relationship with women as with Moses and other prophets, it illustrates the love and dedication women had for Him. The scriptures describe brave, nurturing, and God fearing women whose decisions impacted the existence of the Israelites.

The term angel derives from a Greek translation of the Hebrew word mal'akh, which first meant "Shadow side of God," and now means messenger (Jeremiah 59). Angels as an article of faith have become an unshakeable part of our society. One in every ten popular songs involves angels in some way (Freeman 2). They appear in paintings and in museums as sculptures. Our culture is filled with angels that appear on clothing, cards, or as souvenirs, and jewelry. It would be reasonable to assume that one might find the most information about angels in the Christian bible. However , the bible only mentions three angels by name and actually contains very little information about these beings. Almost all of the information we have about angelic attributes comes from the three great Chronicles of Enoch. In these chronicles Enoch describes his journey to the ten Heavens where he saw angels in heaven's penal and punishment area, punishing sinners. His view was that hell existed in small pockets that were distributed throughout heaven. This view was not consistent with the later Church that believed heaven and hell were two separate places. Because of this, St. Jerome declared these texts apocryphal (Godwin 9). However, a lot of material from these chronicles appears in the New Testament. Though much of what we know currently about what angels are and what they do is based on misconception and myth, the concern of this paper is with the genus Angelus Occidentalis. With these interpretations of God’s words, society as a whole has held women back. This is caused by the forbidden fruit from the tree of knowledge and because Eve gave Adam the fruit, women have been held in responsibility for all of man’s mistakes. It also forced God to punish mankind with an ending life. This confirms why women have been discriminated on by men throughout time in religious scripture.
Women in the biblical bible represent a transitioning and evolutionary turn for women in the future. Biblical women have open doors of opportunities that allow women to become more independent, confidents and sophisticated. History has shown how women first were seen as a typical care taker or protector compared to a “provider,” which was more associated with men. However, over the century, there has been a chain broken and opportunities released that allowed women to become more like men to a certain degree. There has been a change in status, roles, and education. Biblical women have allowed women in the twenty-first century the chance to obtain a higher status role such as, a provider for their family. Therefore, allowing women to stand up for their rights and what they believe in using sexual techniques.
