I am going to critically review a newspaper article on the death of Hamzah Khan from Bradford. I will discuss the main findings the research methodology and the way in which it may or may not be useful in the contribution to our understanding of child welfare. I will also include information on child abuse and on the different agencies. The newspaper article is called Hamzah Khan: the harrowing story of an 'invisible' child. (Pidd, 2013) The article is about a four years old boy who was starved to death by his mother and was left in his cot for two years. She was found accountable for killing him and was given 12 years for killing him and three years for child cruelty, as shown in the (Pidd,2013) newspaper article. A key point is how a child can be treated in an awful way, especially by his mother. As Paul Greaney says “How can a child starve to death in 21st century England?” (Pidd, 2013) The strength of the above quote is that it shows that it is shocking that in today’s society child abuse is still happening and because, of this innocent children like Hamzah are dying. Nowadays, there are more help you can get from different services, and parents get benefit for children that are under age. So the mother had no excuse to starve Hamzah to death and treat him in a cruel way, which has shocked everyone. What happened with Hamzah was a …show more content…

The review assumes that it is trying to make people aware of the health condition of children in England, how children and young people are being starved by their parent. It also makes us believe that multi-agency working are not doing a good job in keeping children safe from harm and that health services need to be more aware and take their responsibility seriously.
