Prologue : How I Lost My Sanity (2 Years Ago.....) I woke up and sighed. This was it, the last day of school before summer. Every child across the state would be waking up with a feeling of pure bliss. Girls would put on their favorite shorts and the guys would wear tight shirts to reveal their muscles the best they could. All rules set up to prevent any trouble at school would be broken repeatedly. There would be drama galore and the annual water balloon fight would be right after school. Exactly why I hated summer break. This was a season created for girls with flat stomachs and sunkissed skin. People would wear less and less clothing and the bathing suits would be so small you could use them to sew a dress together. I would not participate in any such activity. Not even consider any of it. Girls my size weren't made for this weather. I had fat on my stomach that the other girls lost when puberty hit. My face had zits and pimples all over and my hair was some gigantic frizzy mess. My eyes were my one good feature. They were a bright and vibrant violet green like my mother's before she passed I will admit though, I'm not fat, I'm just chubby. "At least its your 16th birthday sweetheart. Tomorrow morning Aphrodite will be jealous of your beauty and your father will be jealous of your power." My Shifter, Mila, said quietly while trying in vain to brighten my thoughts. "Thanks Milly." I whispered sadly. It was true. In less than twenty four hours I would be everything I had always wanted, I'll be living with my mate and no one would ever bully me again. Twenty four hours until I could be happy. Pushing the thoughts out of my mind, I got up and trudged into the small bathroom. When there, I began brushing my teeth, not even ... ... middle of paper ... ...y all of my pictures of my loved ones. I rushed down stairs and grabbed a trash bag then came back and began stuffing everything else I owned into the bag ranging from the rest of my clothes to a speaker set my father had sent a few years back as an apology gift for leaving me stranded. I slung the bag over my shoulder and went to our back yard. I poured everything out and used a match I had found under my bed to light it all on fire. At first, there was nothing but a small flicker of yellow under an old pair of sweatpants I had owned, then a blazing fire erupted out of nowhere and I sat down and watched the flames dance wildly to the music that played in their heads, as they destroyed everything I had ever owned. I wanted to be like that one day. The flames glowed brigth and vibrant colors as they destroyed the objects that would have haunted me in the future.
