I live in Jaipur; it is the capital city of Rajasthan state and is renowned historical place located amidst desert and parched land. It was a confluence of many principalities and ruled by famous kings and queens. So many stories were written about the valor and sacrifice of those glorious warrior kings and princes. True to the history, so many forts were built across the place, possessing rich architectural heritage. I was awestruck by the opulence of the forts, some of which are now converted into hotels. What intrigued me was that all those wars and chaos now reduced to bare walls amidst of desert sands, telling the forgotten history through the mute structures. Therefore, I have a deep understanding about my state. What I think, being a Rajasthani has some unique characteristics: its dress culture, architecture and food

The culture of the place is another important aspect that was notable. The dress culture of this region is amazing with men, women, and children wearing vibrant color costumes that are often decorated with glass and other precious stones. An average Rajasthani woman wears pound-weight silver ornaments and happily carries them around with a smile. Men wear head gears sometimes made of 10-yard long cloth. It is amazing to see these headgears are distinguishable precisely among 120 tribes of Rajasthan. Rajasthani clothes are popular all over the country and perhaps the world. The latest fashion in New York, Milan and Paris are glass embedded handbags, tops and showpieces, which are considered to be signature items of Rajasthan. The women in the city dress in bright blues and radiating reds, with bangles up to the elbows, all of which are dyed from organic materials like plants, vegetables and fruits. Ra...

The cooking style of Rajasthani food is highly effected by the scarcity of water and lack of fresh green vegetables, Daily food comprises unleavened bread, prepared from wheat, barley, millet, milk, curd, buttermilk or ghee in preparations. Similarly lack of green, leafy vegetables there is pronounce use of lentils, pulses and locally grown beans. The mouth-watering cuisine of Rajasthan includes Dal-Bati and Chuma, Lachedar Paratha, Beasn ki missi puri. Non-vegetarian foods are Lal maan (red meat) and Safed mass (white meat), cooked with almonds, cashew nuts and coconuts.

Traditional culture in Rajasthan have undergone many changes, but it is heritage from ancestors, so we need to protect and treasure it and culture fabric is holding all the people together in spite of change brought forth over a period of time.
