Although it does produce weaker bonds, there are still positive impactful aspects of social media. Social media of all kinds has become such an important part of society that looking at it in a negative way will only set them back. We as a society must push forward and continue to incorporate social media in more positive ways. Fallows argues to look over the Chinese values that has been set by the ancestors has to be change in order for this revolution to happen and also hopes to bring the ‘positive power’ of entrepreneurship through TV show . Social media is open to everyone and also based on biased information as there is no hierarchical structure involved, which makes is unorganized and has raised potential for misinterpretation. There is need to verify every rumor before spreading it over social media in order to avoid any bad circumstances afterwards. Similarly, Fallows quotes on how the actual behavior of participants of the show wasn’t shown due to the miscommunication: “All I can say is that the exposure of the most repulsive side of human nature by us- if there was any, because of the award- did not, fortunately, appear in front of the audience” (Fallows, 107). The contests of the reality show had been successful into creating the false perception of themselves to the audience through the use of TV medium. Social media has become deeply embedded in today’s society and it is hard to get rid of technological cravings. But like any revolutionary concept that technology has to offer, it has created a set of new barriers and threats. Similarly, Gladwell talks about the act of activism in today’s world, “It makes it easier for activist to express themselves, and harder for that expression to have any impact” (Gladwell, 142). Nowadays an activist has the ability to be expressive over the social media and not to go through the violent act but they can’t be as impactful as it could be if it was a strong tie connection. People would rather use the social media to communicate rather than seeing someone face-to-face and having real-life conversations with them, which could cause a decrease in meaningful interpersonal relationships. People can be easily distracted by documenting every aspect of their lives on social media, and immediately forget how important real social interaction is.
