Music is an inspirational outlet that can be used to convey a message to other people who relate to that message. Music can become even stronger when the person who is performing it is an inspirational source as well. For the past 30 years Madonna has become a well-known artist, actress, and role model to the people who support her. All artists know that they are only number one until someone else comes along and replaces them with more intriguing work to offer. Lady Gaga has been said to be the new Madonna of our generation and is quite often compared to her in many ways by her musical and styling choices. They both share similarities such as their musical genre, style, feminine empowerment, and their support towards the gay community. Their differences can also be seen in those same fields as well.
On August 16, 1958 Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone was born in the world. Madonna is the third of six children as well as the middle child. She was somewhat “the sissy of the family” and she would often use her feminine wittiness to get her way (A&E Biography 2011). Madonna was raised in a devoted Catholic family and attended the Sacred Heart School through her academic years. Her talent for dancing enabled her to graduate high school a semester early and then attend the University of Michigan on a full dance scholarship. Madonna soon dropped out of college and moved to New York to further her dance career. In order to pay for rent, Madonna worked a string of odd jobs that include modeling nude, working at the Russian Tea Room, and performing at the American Dance Center. Instead of liberal art lessons, she had more interested in entertainment lessons, so she was educated on dance, music, manners, and appearance. We all have music artists that we love to listen to over and over again about one hundred times, we stand in long lines to watch them live in concerts even though the ticket prices may be so expensive or may even watch their music videos an exaggerated amount of times just so that they can get the views. The point I’m trying to make is that we all have our favorites artists such Beyoncé, Kanye West, Bruno Mars, or even lady gaga but my favorite artists are hands down K.Michelle and Tamar Braxton. These ladies are so Similar but yet so different and have achieved great things in life.
The depiction of Madonna and Christ is among the most ancient and common in Christian iconography and has an extensive number of variations because apart from its symbolic religious functions, it allows one to interpret the link between mother and child in many aspects. (8)
It is obvious American culture has changed drastically over time. American culture today is a lot different than it was one hundred, fifty , even twenty years ago. Styles, music, entertainment, and technology have all altered significantly. There are many people that influence our culture with their new talents, ideas, and personalities. During the 1930’s, your go-to girl for a good movie would be Judy Garland. With her diverse talents and unique beauty, she was always a sight to see on screen,she symbolized American culture back then. Nowadays, one could relate Judy Garland to Demi Lovato. Demi is one of the most diverse celebrities in the entertainment business today. Just like Judy, she also had a difficult time with being in the spotlight which led to self harming substances. Judy Garland and Demi Lovato was/is a big part of American Culture. They have many similarities but are very different at the same time. This is why they are perfect examples of how American culture has changed majorly over the past 100 years.

Madonna is a controversial legend whose attitudes and opinions on sexuality have forced the public to take notice and change the image of females in society. Madonna believed women’s sexuality was a natural aspect of life; therefore, she dared to challenge the rules and definitions of femininity and sought to expand the meaning of it. In a male dominated world, she wanted to focus on the importance of women and let them have a voice of their own. Madonna shattered all the myths on traditional beauty standards and made her statement on sexuality and feminism, which changed how society viewed the standards of beauty. She impacted female power by encouraging sex- positivity into her music and her style. It is mainly because of Madonna that ordinary women, and women in modern entertainment have more choices and freedom which continues to influence further generations.
In today’s society music influences people in many ways both for the better and for the worst. Music plays such a big role in modern society due to its easy accessibility like the radio. There are many artist in the world some that influence people for the better, muses, and others that influence others for the worst ,Monsters. Jon Lajoie is an example of a monster, he displays this in his song “Show me your genitals” when he degrades women to a lower standard, and talks about them like the are property On the other hand, Katy Perry represents a muse when she influences people for the better when she talks about being the best that you can be, never giving up, and that everything happens for a reason in her song “Firework”.
Lady Gaga’s unique style and jaw-dropping vocals enamored the music industry. Her success depicts sold out concerts and five number one singles. Troy Carter, her manager, senses growth was due to pursuing a solo tour, which allowed her to connect with live audiences while promoting her new album. At the end of 2009, Part I of the Monster Ball Tour kicked off. By January 2010, Lady Gaga was $$3 million in debt (Fry, 2011). Moving forward, Carter did not want to continue the decline in securing financial success and decided to launch a global tour less than a month later, which would serve as Part II of the Monster Ball T...
In 2002, Britney and her boyfriend Justin Timberlake broke up. The following year during the 2003 MTV Video Music Awards, Britney and former fellow Mouseketeer Christina Alguilera kissed Madonna sensually (A&E Television Networks, 2011). Madonna and Maria Callas are both singers whose personality and presence are often given more weight than the strength of their technical performance. Madonna's vocal ability, Jones tells us, was largely considered "the weakest aspect of her performance" (Jones, 2008 p.165). This is evident throughout Material Girl (The Diva, 2008, track 1), where the singing quality is weak, and shows little of the vocal agility one might expect from an operatic diva. Madonna's voice, as Jones puts it, is "lacking in power and resonance" (Jones, 2008 p.165). Similarly, Callas, "battled throughout her career against vocal problems" (Philip, 2008, p.178), although Philip admits Callas' considered technical ability varied between commentators. Philip mentions an "aggressive warble" (Philip, 2008, p.178) in th...

Madonna’s reputation, however, provides little evidence to suggest any redeeming diva qualities or musical talent. Specifically, her voice is ‘often criticised as being the weakest aspect of her performances’ (Moohan, E,. 2008, p.163) and she upholds her status as a diva due to the ‘notion of her as a powerful and controversial figure’ (Nick Jones, 2008, p. 171) and not her artistic pieces. Madonna’s commanding and creative influence as an entrepreneur enables her to captivate and maintain her position. √ Good. I’m enjoying your discussion Ole.
Diana Spencer had a happy childhood and home life until she was eight years old when her mother left the family and ran off with another man. Her parents went through a horrible divorce but Diana's father won custody of his three daughters and son. Diana Spencer was home tutored until the age of nine and then was sent in and out of exclusive schools where she ended her education at the age of 16 at a Swiss finishing school that she dropped out of within a few months. When Diana returned home she hired herself out as a cleaning lady but she eventually found work as an aide to a kindergarten teacher.
As a whole, she’s a singer who would often have a band behind her. The instrumentation of the band can change depending on the song, but typically will consist of a drum set, several guitars, a piano, background dancers and background singers. On many occasions, however, her band would just consist of her and her piano, such as the song “Marry the Night,” where she often plays it with her voice and her own accompaniment. Lady Gaga is a lyricist where all her songs have vocals and music backing and she tends to make her music fit her lyrics. In the song, “LoveGame,” for example, the lyrics are very provocative and sexual, and the music has a very upbeat, rhythmic vibe to match. With lyrics such as, “do you want love, or you want fame, are you in the game,” she uses equivalent fast tempos, hard beats, and loud dynamics to express the party song. In another song, “Million Reasons,” she uses a more relaxed tone to let the listeners focus more on the lyrics. With only a piano in the background and the dynamics being played softly, her feelings show more through the song to convey her emotions. The complimentary words, “I’ve got a hundred million reasons to walk away,” allow the sadness and emotions that she wants the listeners to hear shine in the song. An interesting take on Gaga’s style, not just musically, but physically, is that she’ll always dress as the music she’s making. In her era of wild and provocative music with electronic instrumentation and fast beats and tempos, she could be seen wearing a meat dress and horned facial prosthetics, singing with auto-tune about themes of sex, as in “Bad Romance.” In her more recent style, however, she has a more simplistic style, in which, she wears a t-shirt and jeans and her music reflects that. Her music has very little alteration with her voice and shows her singing as she does;
