“There is no longer a single right way to build out your data center,” says expert on network and Internet technologies David Strom. And he is right. Thanks to the countless choices available, a Colocation Data Center has more flexibility nowadays. However, they have also become more complex due to the constant growth of online applications and the accelerated virtualization of databases and cloud-based services. Last year Clabby Analytics published an interesting White Paper about a significant change in the High Performance Computing (HPC) market caused by the arrival of Hyperscale servers. This change could have a huge impact on Colocation as a service, providing compute capacity like we have never seen before that will be designed to natively scale out over time. What is Hyperscale computing? According to Techopedia.com Hyperscale Computing “refers to the facilities and provisioning required in distributed computing environments to efficiently scale from a few servers to thousands of servers.” To put it differently, to talk about Hyperscale Computing is to talk about the necess...
Server Virtualization: Server virtualization utilizes regular physical equipment to have virtual machines. A physical host machine could have any number of virtual machines running on it with the goal that one arrangement of equipment is utilized to run diverse machines. Virtual machines can be introduced with their own particular working framework and their own distinctive arrangement of utilizations; the working frameworks or applications don't should be the same over the virtual machines.
The first cloud infrastructure that I would like to describe is the Platform as a Service model, also known as PaaS. The platform in PaaS describes the fact that it provides the computers operating system and hardware for the use of applications. To expand on the platform description it easier to say that a company can use this cloud infrastructure in order to run their software rather than having to buy each computer and software to run a program for each computer. A plus side of using PaaS is that new developers are able to test applications in the cloud without crashing their own computer. It is also capable of storing information on the cloud which frees up hardware storage space. The traditional type of networking where you every computer had to be networked and hardwired to each of the
Virtualization is a technology that creates an abstract version of a complete operating environment including a processor, memory, storage, network links, and a display entirely in software. Because the resulting runtime environment is completely software based, the software produces what’s called a virtual computer or a virtual machine (M.O., 2012). To simplify, virtualization is the process of running multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine. The virtual machines share the resources of one physical computer, and each virtual machine is its own environment.
The server virtualization method is a process that includes partitioning physical servers into a number of small virtual servers using virtualization software. With server virtualization, each virtual server runs many operating system instances at the same time.
The Cray X-MP/22 manufactured by Cray Research Incorporated (CRI) of Minneapolis, Minnesota was delivered and installed at the U of Toronto this September. The Cray is a well respected computer - mainly for its extremely fast rate of mathematical floating-point calculation. As the university states in its July/August computer magazine "ComputerNews", the Cray's "level of performance should enable researchers with large computational requirements at the university of Toronto and other Ontario universities to compete effectively against the best in the world in their respective fields." The Cray X-MP/22 has two Central Processing Units (CPUs) - the first '2' in the '22'. The Cray operates at a clock rate of 105 MHz (the regular, run-of-the-mill IBMPC has a clock rate of 4.77 MHz). By quick calculations, you would be led to believe the Cray is only about 20 times faster that the PC. Obviously, this is not the case.

ConcentricCenter™ includes reliable and high-performance dedicated hosting, distributed server hosting, e-commerce and data center services for larger enterprises and Internet-centric companies. Concentric's Peak Protection service is ideal for companies that do not want to rely on a single hosting provider, Internet Service Provider, or an internal data center for hosting and data center services. The service intelligently balances traffic between Concentric hosting centers and other server locations while providing fail-over insurance.

This case study is an analysis of the Chicago Tribunes Server consolidation in which the Chicago Tribune moved its critical applications from several mainframes and older Sun servers to new, dual-site data-center infrastructure based on Sun 15K servers. The Tribune clustered the Sun servers over a 2-mile distance, lighting up a dark-fiber, 1-Gbps link between two data centers. This configuration let the newspaper spread the processing load between the servers while improving redundancy and options for disaster recovery. (Baltzan and Philips, 2009 p 162)

Cloud storage required hosting companies to operate a large data centers, and people who require their data to be hosted buy or lease storage capacity from them.
In cloud computing, the word cloud is used as a metaphor for “the internet”. So the cloud computing means “a type of internet-based computing”, where different services such as servers, storage and applications are delivered to an organization’s computers and devices through the internet.
System design in a data center network provides the tools for addressing the challenges that occur with expansion of data center infrastructure. This includes support for the rapid growth of applications and their data and storage bandwidth, managing and modifying data storage requirements, optimize server-processing resources and access information
