The Korean War was one of many episodes of the Cold War, but how did it begin? The spreading of communism, the craving of world domination countries, and growing tension between North and South Korea were also key factors in why this war started (Clare). But, if you wanted a one-word summary of the start of this war it would be: Communism. In 1947 is when everything started to happen. Recently some countries around the world had started to become communist. U.S. president, Harry Truman, believed that soon the United States could also be at risk to become communist. Truman thought that the presence of communism the country would ruin the free and capitalist ways of the United States. The Truman Doctrine was a speech, given by Truman that asked Britain to stop providing economic and military assistance to communist countries such as Turkey and Greece. Instead of Britain giving the funds to the country, the United States started to give funds to the anti-communism parties within the countries.
