Coco Chanel, born Gabrielle Bonhuer Chanel, on August 19, 1883 in Saumur, France was an amazing woman who redefined fashion as we know it today. She was a clothing designer who revolutionized the fashion industry with her suits, little black dresses, and avant garde flare. Because of this quickly in her young life she became well know, and rose to be the fashion icon that she is today. From the timeless designs that are still popular to this day, and the sophisticated outfits that can be paired with great accessories Chanel has done it all. When it comes down to it though it was Coco Chanel’s philosophy that “luxury must be comfortable, otherwise it’s not luxury” that lead to her success. (“Coco Chanel”)
Though she rose to prestige in her young adult life, Coco Chanel’s childhood wasn’t as illustrious as her successful adulthood. After Chanel’s mother died she was placed into an orphanage by her father who was a peddler. During the time she was there she was raised by nuns, and taught a great deal of things all above which was how to sew. So early on it can be said that it was Chanel’s destiny to become the trendsetter that she eventually became. Chanel had a brief career as a singer in a café which ended only a little while after it had started though the name she’d supposedly been given, “Cocoette”, would last her a lifetime, and would be further shortened down to the iconic “Coco” giving rise once again to her almost prophetic destiny. Coco would not only be a trademark for years to come, but it would be a name that was associated with prestige; the Chanel brand’s badge of honor if you will. An entrepreneur is someone who recognizes an opening in the market for a product or service and carries it out using initiative. Usually being innovators; entrepreneurs are risk takers in means of not knowing whether their ideas will in fact succeed (Business Dictionary, 2016). According to the author, clothing design was her star that raised her above other women. It would be better if other women would emulate her character and moral beliefs that should attract other women.
As the stock market booms and society prospers, women’s fashion undergoes drastic change during the 1920’s. The hems of skirts and dresses rise to newer, more promiscuous level. The traditional long hair, supposedly the crowning glory of a women, is cut shoulder-length or shorter. Defined waistlines are lost, giving way to a shapeless and loose fitting style of clothing. Manufacturing of cosmetics emerges during this decade, and a variety of products become popular among women. Chanel was born to Albert Chanel and Eugénie Jeanne Devolle, who died when Chanel was twelve and her father sent her to an orphanage where nuns taught her how to sew, a skill that she would use later on in her future ("Coco Chanel”). Before Chanel started her career as a fashion designer, she used to be a cabaret singer. Even though Coco Chanel had a difficult childhood, she was able to build an empire with a lot of dedication and reinvent how fashion is known today. The fashion icon Coco Chanel revolutionized and transformed the fashion industry by giving women freedom to choose a more casual look as the feminine standard of style during a time where women were known for their "corseted silhouette.”
When researching a person from many various sources, you get to know the different sides of the person that the world knew. While researching her early life, lovers, career, and her death, there were many facts about Miss Coco Chanel that made her a truly intriguing person to research. She seemed to have led a very interesting life, but she may not have been happy. That is probably why she kept going for the richer and more powerful men and why she lied so much about her past. The inconsistencies were evident throughout all the research, even up until her cause of death.
Working at her father’s clothing shop, she became very knowledgeable about expensive textiles and embellishments, which were captured in her works later in career. She was able to capture the beauty and lavishness of fabrics in portraits of aristocratic women.

Fashion plays an important role in the lives of billions all over the world; people, as part of a status craving society, turn to “fashion capitals” of the world for ways in which to dress and carry themselves. New York, Milan, and Paris are leaders among this fierce industry that the world lusts after. Fashion can speak volumes about ones personality, or also about the condition the world is in at the time. In France, fashion changed rapidly and feverously as the times changed.

It was not just about being a beautiful model in the photograph, there had to be other ways of making the photograph appealing than the simple lacklustre way of being beautiful. Although, every woman wants to be beautiful, the photographer wanted to challenge the appearance of beauty. And also challenge the way we looked at people that were not beautiful, but had a unique quality to them. The fashion photographer had a lot of power in Fashion; they could make a normal street person become the key icon for desire and envy. The photograph had the power to sell the clothes using anyone the photographer pleased, and the designer didn’t mind as long as their clothes were being recognized, and sold.
Introduction Historically, multiple styles of dressing have been created during the last several decades, which played an important role in modern fashion in the UK. Everyone has a different and unique dressing style in their everyday life. Some styles are influenced by vintage styles which are attributing to the deep effects of old vogue, and another group of dressing styles are inclined into the fresh element. Despite those different styles, some of them have even evolved into the milestones in fashion history. To start this essay, it will introduce the evaluation of the first significant revolution of dressing style in the 1960s.
