The Cluds In My Golf Bag

Arriving at the golf course fifteen minutes before my T time (time reserved for the start of your golf round). Waiting as the sun slowly rises into the sky, dispersing the morning mist, revealing the dew covered golf course, glistening in the morning light. I begin to make a mental plan, off how I plan to play this challenging golf course, with its many sand traps, narrow fairways, and hidden greens. Making this course very difficult to play for an amateur golfer like myself. Needing the exercise I decide to walk instead of riding in a golf cart. Carefully I strap my golf clubs into my pull cart, making sure that they are secure, and that I have all the clubs in my golf bag. Not noticing that the sun has risen high enough to burn off the morning dew, leaving the golf course moist, and ready for play.

The golf course now alive with the noise of many golfers and their carts, all waiting for their chance to tee off. It is now my time to tee off. Looking at the contents of my golf bag I have five types of clubs: the driver, woods, hybrids, irons, and the putter. Three of the five types of clubs are made in sets. The clubs in the sets have a different degree of loft (how high the ball goes when hit.) Each type of club is designed for different uses on the golf course.

The driver is only used to tee off on a hole. It is used for no other purposes other than to tee off. The big bulbous head of this club is designed to send the golf ball sailing hundreds of yards. My driver seems to have a mind of its own, as it strikes the golf ball at all sorts of angles. Sending errant shots in every direction, making this club tough for me to use. This is why I sometimes use the three wood to tee off.

The putter is built with a flat face, so that when a golfer strikes the golf ball it rolls instead of taking flight. And is designed to help steady a golfer’s hand and aim. Allowing for finesse around the green (knowing just how hard to strike the golf ball, the slope, and angle of the green.) All in an effort to put the golf ball in the cup.

Despite the fact that I own all these different types of clubs, I discovered that in course of a round of golf, I have a tendency to use each type of club, and only a few clubs from each set of clubs. Using each club for its designed purpose and sometimes for things the club wasn’t designed for. After the end of my of my golf round. I count up my score, in order to see if my golf game has improved. More times than not I find that it has not. Then I check the clubs in my golf bag making sure that I have not lost any.
