The city of Ribbleton lies on a relatively flat piece of land located along River Ribble in England. The city climate remains stable at a low 10 degrees Celsius, which is typical for a city with this location. Many of the days in Ribbleton are cloudy and rainy, which adds to the low temperature. 50,000 reside in this city, so transportation is a key factor.
Almost half of the world’s population inhabit cities so it is important for those people to be able to move easily throughout them; whether it is because of cars, bikes, or trains. Most of the problems cities have with transportation are traffic, the environment, and the capacity the transport can hold. These problems occur in all cities, and this includes Ribbleton, but engineers have come up with solutions to solve these problems.
One of these solutions is a Straddle Bus. The Straddle Bus is a form of mass transportation that basically “straddles” the road. It is meant for cars to be able to go through, but since Ribbleton does not use cars because of the environmental impacts that they cause, bikes are the alternative. This infrastructure is a futuristic design because while there are busses and roadways in 2013, a bus that actually straddles the roadway allowing vehicles to pass underneath it does not currently exist. Ribbleton also has passenger trains that ride on tracks underground. These trains do not follow or parallel the roadways above, but rather, offer less direct routes for the passengers. The Straddle Bus aligns with the main roads for a more direct path of travel.
One of Ribbleton’s many problems includes a way for mass transit, but the Straddle Bus counters that problem. Most busses carry a maximum of 50 people, but this bus is able to carry up to 1,200....

...g (which includes energy and solar power science) disciplines to offer their expertise in this newly developed transportation solution. The engineering role most useful in our solution is the automotive engineer. Automotive engineering, which includes elements of electrical, mechanical, and safety science, is essential to the function of the Straddle Bus as well as the underground train system.
The Ribbleton transportation system involves the most environmentally efficient and fitness-first solution for its citizens. Citizens have the option of peddling on ground, riding above ground or underground to get to their destinations. Integrating the roadways for the Straddle Bus and the cyclist emphasizes the symbiotic relationship that the city embraces. Ribbleton is dedicated to an environmentally safe and sustainable city, which makes it a great place to live.
Both many successes and problems arose within these new industrial cities. One of these problems was that of the transportation issue. To some, the densely populated cities were difficult to navigate. Often having populations in the hundreds of thousands, these cities were only a few square miles in size. One of the first inventions created to tackle this problem was the omnibus. The omnibus was similar to a horse drawn carriage, except that it was much longer. "Putting the car on iron tracks then enabled the horses to pull more passengers at a faster clip through crowded city streets" (Henretta, 2009). An improvement over the omnibus came later in the form of the electric trolley. The trolley was a carriage th...
Since the early 1990s, the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) had been exploring public transit resolutions that would improve access to Cleveland’s two largest employment hubs, downtown Cleveland and University Circle. During this examination period, GCRTA’s discussions with the local communities and local business leaders specified that there was a major need for improved public transit mobility along the Euclid Avenue Corridor. These discussions led to the development and evaluation of alternatives to the current bus route that served this area, the local bus route #6. By coordinating with Cuyahoga County and the City of Cleveland, and by hosting a series of public meetings, GCRTA had more than enough input and assistance in the final determination of alternatives to meet the transportation needs of the community and the Euclid ...
The rail systems put into place in Chicago have always been a major factor in freight transportation. The city provides a centralized hub for the railways throughout the country. After a long run the system is bound to find flaws as old technologies are passed by new ones. The existing railroad structures have in time taken a toll over the years of service. “The railroad system of Chicago has been around for a long time now. After many years it has gone past time time of despair. With the new project it is hoping to bring the popularity back to where it once was” (Chicago Transit Renovation to Improve Service). This update needed will guide Chicagos railroad system into the future. The city also has to take a look on how it is going to keep up with the constant increase of railcars on their tracks. With the new technologies of the future Chicago can only make their infrastructure better. The aim is to stay on time with the railcars to diminish the amount of overcrowding presented in the old rail systems in Chicago.
BoltBus’s strengths can be described as their innovation skills are second to none. They have lowered fares to be affordable and have no unnecessary stops along the way when traveling, so it presents a smooth, peaceful ride for the customer or rider. It also implemented certain technological advances, such as: built in Wi-Fi service, power plugs at every seat for powering lap-tops and phones, and generous leg room for comfort and peace. This captures the younger, tech-savvy audience within their demographic market plan.
You can even be specialist in a particular part of the vehicle, like its electrics, mechanics or specialized in making a particular part.
The core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul have stronger systems emerging in the Blue and Green Light Rail lines, however the southern suburb located Red BRT line is struggling with ridership. The proposed Orange BRT line to Burnsville will continue to have similar ridership problems if the transit engineers do not balance efficiency and speed to encourage riders to step out of their cars and onto the bus. Finally, without the extension of the Orange BRT line to Lakeville, the community will be restricted to the 467 Express Bus during rush hour, be forced to drive to at least Burnsville to other options, or continue to drive themselves and add to the

Third is a vehicle, BRT systems can utilize a wide range of vehicles, from regular buses to specialized vehicles. Options vary in terms of design, internal configuration, size, propulsion system, and horizontal/longitudinal control, all of which impact service quality, capacity and system performance. Aesthetics, both internal and external are also important for establishing and reinforcing the brand identity of the
Possessing the basic knowledge in the field of physical sciences and the intuition in them made me to pick up Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry as my majors for the Higher Secondary Education. After the completion of my secondary education, I felt that engineering was the only field which can transform and transfer my dreams in the field of sciences into a real one and also it would give me an opportunity to learn and explore how the fundamentals of science are appl...

The development of every nation hinges on the effectiveness of their transportation systems. Movement of goods, services and people to and from locations is made possible by transportation systems. The importance of effective transportation systems cannot be over-emphasized. Many countries face transportation problems and my country Ghana is no exception. A trip of about 30 minutes usually takes about an hour or more due to traffic jams. This is seriously impacting productivity and has become a topical issue in the country. The situation is the same in Uganda where I currently work. To this end, Transportation Engineers are needed to design roads/ highways that will stand the test of time, plan effective traffic management systems to reduce

While I was in high school, not only was I an active volunteer in several activities such as food drives and helping those in need, in addition to community work, but also I became invested in engineering sciences due to my perceptions regarding the importance of electrical engineering to an emerging industrial country such as mine. Therefore, as I was to graduate soon, I decided to specialize in this science as a student and future professional. Fortunately, through my undergraduate studies, not only did I found the science to be highly intriguing and vast giving way access to endless disciplines, but I have also found that it is very much correlated to numerous other sciences. This observation prompted me to further delve in my studies to become one day a well-informed engineer.
Traffic congestion, is one of the major problems faced in the capitals and major cities in most countries. As with the increase in the growth rate, comes the growing demand for the use of transportation. This works with the response to the needs of the community.
