The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, by C.S. Lewis Is one of seven parts of the epic adventures of four children who enter a totally different world, by accident. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy, one day find themselves in a place called Narnia ruled by and evil witch. They embark on a journey to right the wrongs of the witch. In their quest they come along some unexpected obstacles. The children try and face these obstacles with all they are. The Children's journey includes many mythical creatures you only dream of. Good creatures and bad creatures, there is a war. Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy are destined to fix and bring peace to Narnia, but the thing is, their only children.
Four children are sent to the countryside of England during the war to avoid the air raids. They go to live with an old professor who has no wife, only a housekeeper. While there, the children find an old wardrobe that if walked through, leads them to a magical place called Narnia. Although, the children did not all enter at once. Lucy, the youngest, of Peter, the eldest, Susan, the second eldest, and Edmund, the third eldest enters first, through the wardrobe and at the lamp post, meets a Faun. When she returns to our world the three other children don't believe her. Edmund taunts her, and one day follows her into Narnia. There he cannot find her and he meets the White Witch, She tells him to bring all of his brothers and sisters to Narnia. He agrees to her wicked plan thinking she is a nice queen. When Lucy sees Edmund she is filled with joy. She supposes that Edmund could back her up this time. So, when they get back Lucy tell her siblings about it, Lucy thinks Edmund will back her up, but apparently out of spite he denies he had ever been in Narnia. You see, both times Narnia was visited it was rainy days. So the next rainy day The House keeper was giving a tour of the house to some people, The house was well known for it's mysteriousness, and the house keeper often gave tours, and she'd hate it when the children were to get in the way, so as they were coming closer all four children ran to wardrobe, it seemed to have never end.
C.S Lewis is the author of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Warrdrobe. Lewis was born on November 29, 1898, in Belfast, Ireland. He was born Clive Staples Lewis to Flora August Hamilton Lewis and Albert J. Lewis. Lewis’s mother passed away when he was on ten years old. After his mother died he went on to get his pre-college education at boarding schools and he also received help from a tutor. Lewis served in World War I with the English Army, but unfortunately was sent home when he was wounded. Lewis was a graduate of Oxford University with a focus on classic philosophy and literature. As a child, he was disappointed with the Christian faith, but when he became older he found himself embracing Christianity. During World War II, he gave popular radio broadcasts on Christianity and they won many converts. Lewis’ speeches were collected in Mere Christianity. In the year of 1954, C.S. Lewis joined the staff of Cambridge University as a literature professor. He met an English teacher by the name of Joy Gresham and in 1956 they married each other and became a happily married family. The two were joyful during their marriage; unfortunately in 1960, the wife became ill with cancer died. Lewis began publishing his works in the mid- 1920s. Lewis started to publish The Chronicles of Narnia during the 1950s. The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe was the first in the seven book series to be released. This was the story of four siblings who discovered a wardrobe with a magical land in the back of it (“Clives…”). In The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, Lewis describes Aslan, Edmund, and Lucy.
Brave New World by Aldous Huxley is a book full of meaning and purpose. Even though it was written in 1932 and wasn’t completely accepted at the time, today people accept it as a work of written genius.
The Magician’s Nephew is the genesis of Narnia. It all starts with a curious but cowardly Professor and two kids who want to find out what the Professor is doing so secretly in his lab. When they get there, the Professor tells the kids that he has found a way to travel between worlds and tricks them into trying his invention. Catastrophes and wondrous adventures follow.
Brave New World, a novel by Aldous Huxley was written at a tine in history when war had ravaged much of the nation, Depression was blanketing society, and people’s wills were being put to the test. Science had become an overwhelming force for better or for worse. People had witnessed science saving and preventing millions of lives with vaccinations and such, but on the contrary, had also witnessed it kill with horrifying “factory-like” efficiency in WW I (the age of machine guns and chemical warfare). Brave New World is not intended to be a happy book, it is more Huxley’s way of describing what he believes is coming to us. He is basically saying, “This is our future”. Huxley’s writings are known for dealing with conflicts between the interest of the individual and the interests of society. Brave New World addresses this conflict in a fictional future (approximately 500 years into the future) in which free will and individuality have been sacrificed to achieve complete social stability.
There is a picture of a ship on the wall and as Eustace calls Narnia, fake water begins coming into the room out of the picture. The next thing they know is they are in the ocean and the ship is on their side. The ship is a group of Narnians sailing east looking for the seven lost lords of Narnia. Caspain, the king of Narnia, leads the search group along with Ripecheep, the leader of the talking mice. In Narnia, animals talk and walk around like humans: Edmund, Lucy, and Eustace.
The Chronicles of Narnia are wonderful to read whether one be six or thirty-six; they relate to childhood as well as life in a general sense. While the Chronicles tell the story of an imaginary land full of talking animals and heroic princes/princesses, I tend to look further into it in order to grasp the symbolism and relation to life. Symbolism plays an important role in the chronicles by being the background and foundation of a character. I get the impression that in some ways the characters were constructed around their symbolic purpose, and not the opposite way.

In the book the main characters are sent by Aslan to rescue Rilian who had been abducted by the Emerald Witch. She then charms Rilian into forgetting his past in order to manipulate him into helping her take over Narnia. The main characters eventually save him and end her control over him. The Emerald Witch becomes infuriated and uses her powers to make the characters start forgetting their past memories. They remember some elements but she attempts to trick them into thinking their memories are wrong and what they think is merely fantasy. When Prince Rilian goes on to explain the memory of a sun described as a lamp that is much bigger than the sky, the witch chimes in with: “You see? When you try to think out clearly what this sun must be, you cannot tell me. You can only tell me it is like the lamp. Your sun is a dream; and there is nothing in that dream that was not copied from the lamp. The lamp is the real thing; the sun is but a tale, a children’s story.” When Eustace remembers Aslan the Lion she explains that Aslan doesn’t exist and that there is no Narnia either. This of course is a direct and obvious reference to Plato’s allegory of the cave. The ignorance of the heroes and how their reality can be controlled by the magical powers of the witch are much like the prisoners in the cave who only accept what is taught to
Alice from Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and Oliver from Oliver Twist represent the characteristic Victorian children who are naturally good and appeal to the sentiments of the reader when facing difficult situations that aid in finding who they are. The children are required to decide between two conflicting ideas such as childhood and adulthood in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and even good versus evil in Oliver Twist while they search to find where they belong in the natural order of society. Death and horrible outcomes hover around Alice and Oliver as they are shoved into different social situations without their approval. Alice and Oliver’s identity crisis, while they are at a stage of limbo, are evident in the obstacles they must face including repressive new secondary environments which parody and mirror real life struggles imposed on them, being vehicles to aid in adult’s favor as they pull the children in varying directions and the inability for Alice and Oliver to take control of their lives their own hands.
Their are also many trees that the children first use as hiding places. This becomes the middle ground for the adventure that they go on. Narnia in this book is being created by Aslan. It is created by the tune that Aslan sung. It is here where their are many different types of animals that can talk.
...c child who is an innocent and has no place in the world of the wicked. His troubled self’s resolution comes at the end after Edmund has spoken to Aslan, the true ruler and god of Narnia. Both Edmunds own initiative and, less directly, religion lead Edmund back to before he was spoiled by the school he went to and the enchantment of the witch’s candy. Lewis therefore is following the Romantic tradition of innocence as a part of childhood since it was not Edmund’s fault he performed the incorrect behavior and was drawn to the side of evil.
The characters in The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe are symbolic of other characters featured in the Bible. Peter, the eldest child, became the “rock” everyone clung to. Although the novel is notorious for its satire and parodies, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland main theme is the transition between childhood and adulthood. Moreover, Alice’s adventures illustrate the perplexing struggle between child and adult mentalities as she explores the curious world of development know as Wonderland. The Narnia Chronicles have already established themselves as timeless works of literature. They appeal to both the atheists and the God-fearing, to both the uneducated and to scholars; to children and adults. An understanding of the Biblical allegory in these books is not essential to their appreciation. A critical analysis of these works, however, does allow the reader to more fully appreciate Lewis' unique gift to simplify complex narratives and craft beautiful children's fantasies. This, in turn, allows the reader to gain both a deeper understanding of Lewis as a skilled creative writer, and a deeper satisfaction of his art. To be able to appreciate C.S. Lewis as such an artisan can only add to one's enjoyment of his works.
His dependency on Alice is shown at the end of the White Knight’s scene through the White Knight’s insistence that she sees him off. The White Knight bringing Alice to the final brook to become a queen is Carroll’s way of showing that he needs to let Alice go in order for her to grow up.
