Charles A. Bonnici uses several practical examples in his book to illustrate the application of leadership. Even though this book focuses more on issues related to leadership in a school set up, the principles presented in this book are practical under various fields of leadership, including health professions. Bonnici points out a few ideologies, which once put into practice lead to successful leadership. Therefore, this book is greatly useful in leadership and the health professions. It offers individual knowledge of solving problems and laying proper strategies that are productive. This book guides leaders to walk the talk. Therefore, Bonnici’s book is immensely useful in shaping leadership in all aspects of life (Charles 1). Aspects of good leadership Bonnici’s book is subdivided into several chapters where in each chapter he points out aspects that a good leader needs to observe. For instance, in the first chapter Bonnici suggests that a good leader should lead in practice and should be a role model. A good role model sets the path for others to follow, by being outstanding in all they do. Naturally, people learn by observing, more than by listening. This enables people learn what they can observe easily as compared to what they hear. When a leader becomes a role model, there is a likelihood they will comprehend better what the people being led go through, hence the leader will impose practical expectations on the followers (Charles 9). Bonnici demonstrates that a leader should not be part of the problem, but a solution. In any practical University or Physical therapy center for example, certain issues might emanate and become problems in that particular place. Therefore, a leader should learn how to handle these issues ra... ... middle of paper ... ...siastically and better. A person who is always having their positive side praised is likely to have their negative habits die down: the vice versa is also correct. A good leader will also tend to practice control of their communication. Information is censored so that only some information is delivered to certain people. This keeps information safe (Charles 123). Bonnici also insists that a good leader offers support to their staff. Motivated staff performs well in their endeavors. Besides, everyone desires to feel appreciated and love doing their working freely without pressures and feelings of compulsion. Bonnici also points out that a good leader gives attention to details. This ensures that a leader recognizes when the people subject to him are well and when they are not well. This helps in putting things in order early enough as they are realized (Charles 145).
