Global warming is a common term used by scientists to describe a consistent rise in the Earth’s average temperature. It is easy to find articles about global warming in environment issue sections. Scientists inform us about the serious state of the Earth warming up, which can be considered one of the greatest nature challenges for the world in 21st century and also a huge threat to humanity. More than ever, this dramatic climate change is receiving special attention from the scientists and environmentalists, who are working out ways of handling the possible consequences.
Global warming is a phenomenon when the Earth’s average temperature of the atmosphere and the oceans to rise. According to National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), by 21st century, the average surface temperatures could increase in the range between 2oC and 6oC (Riebeek). There are a lot of studies on global warming that set milestones even for 2100 year; however, the survey results show that the Earth’s temperature will continue to rise beyond 2100 even if humans stop their harmful emissions causing greenhouse effects (Venkataramanan 227). Environmentalists are able to find several causes of global warming, which can be listed in two categories: the natural and human-made causes.
In February 2014, a Canadian ecologist Patrick Moore made a speech to the U.S. senators that there is not any scientific evidence proving that humans are causing the temperature change in the Earth’s atmosphere. He claimed that the Earth has reached even higher temperature in the past and has emitted ten times the amount of carbon dioxide than it has recently. Moreover, he believed that the warmer atmosphere, the more advantageous for humans and other organisms. Human’s ...
