One of my goals after I have finished high school is to attend pharmacy school. Pharmacy is the career that I want to pursue and have been for a couple years. The reason pharmacy interests me is mostly the setting, having options of working in a hospital, community pharmacy, or even a laboratory. My main interests in school involve math and science, which pharmacy is mostly composed of. My main goal I hope to achieve in life is to attend pharmacy school, graduate, and then become a licensed pharmacist.

A pharmacist has many responsibilities and has a very big workload. A pharmacist is responsible for dispensing the correct medication and in the correct dosage. The pharmacist is responsible for looking for any errors in the prescription and talking with the physician who prescribe it if any errors are found. The pharmacist is also responsible for looking for any bad reactions with the patients other medication that may cause problems. Another responsibility of being a pharmacist is to counsel people on both prescribed medication and over the counter medication. The pharmacist is the specialist you go to when you need assistance or advice with any of your medication. Daily a pharmacist would fill dozens of prescriptions per hour. With a high amount of prescriptions being filled also raises the risk for error. The pharmacist must be certain that they have read the prescription correctly and have filled the prescription correctly.

There are many skills that all pharmacists should have a good understanding of. One of the major skills involve math and science. Math and science are skills that pharmacists use daily and are one of the most important. The pharmacist must make careful and exact calculations to ensure that the medication...

...ith some working 50 hours. Lastly, the job security of being a pharmacist is very good. Pharmacy is a very stable job and there is availability across the country.

However, there are some disadvantages of being a pharmacist. One disadvantage is the advancement in the career. A pharmacist salary and job description does not change much. Also the work that you do one day will be the same as any other day. Another disadvantage of being a pharmacist is having to stand for long periods of time. Pharmacist stand all day and depending on your work setting, you may also have to walk for extended periods of time. The one major disadvantage of being a pharmacist is that you have no room for error. One single medication error can have catastrophic effects. Making many errors and even major errors can damage one’s career in pharmacy and even lead to losing their license.
