Community Development –
Community development is a way of strengthening civil society by prioritizing the actions of communities, and their perspectives in the development of social, economic and environmental policy. It seeks the empowerment of local communities, taken to mean both geographical communities, communities of interest or identity and communities organizing around specific themes or policy initiatives. It strengthens the capacity of people as active citizens through their community groups, organizations and networks; and the capacity of institutions and agencies (public, private and non-governmental) to work in dialogue with citizens to shape and determine change in their communities. It plays a crucial role in supporting active democratic life by promoting the autonomous voice of disadvantaged and vulnerable communities. It has a set of core values/social principles covering human rights, social inclusion, equality and respect for diversity; and a specific skills and knowledge base.

3. Economy issues –
Organic growth has its advantages but in the terms of economic inorganic has its edge here. Inorganic growth helps in achieving economies of scale and scope in an efficient and timely fashion. Inorganic growth is one the expensive side in this regard but for the AKH group, it is affordable.
4. Outsourcing options –
Skills development industry involves training the people in trades they are willing to work in. It could be done through class room sessions, practical training, and education or development programs. If the company is to open such a facility, it can outsource many things like trainers, equipment’s, facility buildings, etc. For the primary health care, similar kind of outsourcing can be done. This would help the company to engage many people into employment and also save the botheration for employing so many resources.
A community is comprised of a group of goal oriented individuals with similar beliefs and expectations. Currently the term is used interchangeably with society, the town one lives in and even religion. A less shallow interpretation suggests that community embodies a lifestyle unique to its members. Similarities within the group establish bonds along with ideals, values, and strength in numbers unknown to an individual. Ideals and values ultimately impose the culture that the constituents abide by. By becoming part of a community, socialization...

In this essay I shall make a critical comparison of different theories and approaches of community organising. By focusing on main aspects of Paulo Freire and Saul Alinsky’s models of community organising I shall discuss how applicable these models are in the UK. By drawing examples from experiences of applying Root Solution Listening Matters (RSLM) and Participatory Action Research (PAR) frameworks in my practice. I shall demonstrate relationships and differences between the two. By addressing key elements of theories of power and conflict I shall highlight the main characteristics of both and use these theories as lenses to view some problems in the communities. By comparing models of community enterprise I shall reflect on future opportunities of a budding community enterprise. Finally by outlining the methods of evaluation I shall reflect on my chosen framework for evaluation of my work.
Wheatly’s recount of a community building process in Santos, Brazil lead by Edgard Gouvela Junior gives an example of theories and methodologies that apply to community building being put into effect. Throughout the text, there is a sense of “us versus them.” Warriors Without Weapons are a community building group from the Elos Institute. Concerned with this perpetual “us versus them” attitude of the community members, one Warrior without Weapons was skeptical of the project. Fortunately, Deborah decided to participate in a “thirty-day game.” “The purpose of the game was not to help, save or fix anyone else. The purpose of the game was to discover how play unleashes everyone’s creativity, how it invades us to see what’s possible
Community based programmes are widely believed to be beneficial and have become an important strategy to enhance health (Nilson 2006). Community and community participation have been used increasingly in public health in past years with various definitions attributed to these concepts. Communities may be defined by locality, interests, religious beliefs, age or ethnicity, social networks or shared needs (Hubley and Copeman 2008). Identifying what constitutes a particular community is complex and for health promotion to be effective it has to focus on the perceived need of that community (Gottwald and Goodman-Brown 2012).
Global and local communities seek the greatest opportunities for prosperity and self-fulfillment, but there exists certain criteria that must be met in order to achieve those ends. The most successful communities incorporate the inherent values and virtues of a specific group of people. Communities ought to establish goals to be attained by their members, giving them a sense of cohesion and cooperation. Ideally, communities dictate a rule of law to lead them towards some elements of justice and mutual benefit.
A community can be seen as a group of people who share a common interest or live in the same location, sharing the same beliefs. A group of peo...

Activities and philosophies that advocate for the connecting of communities with socially sentient beliefs and actions is what have come to be referred to as civic engagement. They are thus individual or collective actions aimed at addressing issues that are deemed to be of public concern. They can be manifested in many ways including; public service, civil activity, service-learning, crusading and advocacy to mention but a few as the list is endless.
This chapter began by introducing the concept of a civil society. Chirico (128) described it as people organising outside of government channels to meet social objectives. She pointed out that social movements in the past have focused on communities within nations while the current movements focus more on involving people from diverse parts of the world in order to promote human welfare regardless of where in the World they happen to be. Chirico shared a quote from Simmel (128) that really resonated with me and, in my opinion, captured such a complex concept into a short and simple sentence. He said that “Humanity is the collective life, the same people who from other perspective are organized into societies, polities economies, families, and so on”. I take this to mean that we are all, basically, the same; we are all humans who are trying to make it through whatever life we have been given to live. People are just people. I think the concept of civil society is one that I wish more people would understand and embrace instead of holding on to prejudice, judgement, and ignorance. According to Chirico (128), individuals who help do so out of a sense of shared experience by recognising that everyone is a victim of global problems and that anyone can help. There are endless ways to participate whether it be through a formal organisation such as NGO’s, The Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, and The Peace Corps, through non-profit organisations and advocacy, or more individually by making donations, sponsoring a child, mentoring, volunteering in their communities. These are regular people who volunteer, and sometimes risk their lives, to fight for equal rights and treatment for all.

According to WHO, 2017 capacity building is the development and strengthening of human and institutional resources. It is however a process that goes beyond only the public sector, whereas Janicke.M & Weidner. H, n.d, defines it as the society’s ability to identify and solve environmental problems. Furthermore Capacity building is the ability for a community and companies to grow and develop and nurture new skills. It is the ability to utilise the possibility for further growth, this allows for society to progress even further and be able to tackle any challenges along the way. The main participants for capacity building are the government, local members of the community, and NGO’s (Cadri, 2017). There are however certain obstacles
Frequently however, issues arise amongst a community that need attention. In this essay I will outline and discuss some of these issues and the interventions, projects or programmes designed and used to tackle and combat them. The three models of intervention or, ‘Community Development’, I will discuss in this essay, "Social Planning", "Community Development", and "Social/Community Action", all have the same aim regardless of how it is accomplished and this is to improve and maintain the conditions which affect the lives of the community.
To initiate community development and urban development strategies it takes a whole community to become involved in the implementation of designing areas within the city that are being used by residents and tourists. When it comes to the planning it would take a group that consists of people who reside in the area as well as people who are from the outside to give a diverse perspective of how they would visualize certain areas to be designed and presented in a way where everyone can have access to it and at the same time appreciate it. The articles I will be presenting in this provides a comprehension of how a city park can be accessible by everyone hence sustainable development. Sustainable development is a term which combines urban planning and community development to make the city livable, pleasant and attractive for its citizens and tourists as well. (Chiesura, A. 2004)
