“King addressed the huge late afternoon crowd of more than 250,000” (Garrow). The Civil Rights Movement was at its peak through the 1950’s and 1960’s. People like Dr. Martin Luther King, Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Coretta Scott King, the Black Panthers, and Americans against segregation helped take the first step to stopping racism from spreading to further generations. “The Black Panthers Platform,” by: Alexander Bloom and Wini Brienes is a book that helps spread light onto what the black communities wanted and to show how daily life was for a African American under a racist government. The theme of this book is to fight for what brings justice and equality to the people so that they could have the opportunity to be treated fairly. The civil rights movement requests are stated in the “Black Panther Platform”. The theme of the literature was to clearly state what was requested by them and there people. The Black Panthers wanted the opportunity to determine the destiny of themselves which they believed shall make them free. The Black Panthers Platform was created to clearly state what black community’s wanted to see change and to show the issues of racism and police brutality. The military wants to draft African American men to fight and to risk their lives for a country that does not even want to fight for them at home. The Black community will not stop revolting against the system until they get what they want, dogs, fire hoses, and policemen cannot stop the spirit of what is deserved. Never stopped believing in their objectives, clearly stated what they wanted, and what they deserved. “We believe that Black people should not be forced to fight in the military service to defend a racist government that does not protect us,” (Bloom ... ... middle of paper ... ...till have a long way to go before racism is no longer a problem.
