Overview/Rationale

I picked this author because i am one of those people who is very into literature but i am interested in history. Thomas Jefferson was very influential in our country's government. He was the third president of the United States and played a major role in the writing of the declaration of independence, the articles of confederation and then the constitution. As we know there has been lots of scandals in the White House through the year we have been this great country called america. We have our Bill Clintons and JFK's and we cannot leave out our third president Thomas Jefferson he had a few of his own as well this is what makes him very interesting and makes we want to learn more i want to know more of the little details that are behind this great author and governmental leader.

Biography Section

According to the article Thomas Jefferson published by the Detroit Gale, Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Shadwell, Virginia, United States. He was an american philosopher and statesmen and also the third president of the United States. He had many interest and activities. His influence was political and intellectual and went on the shape the new country of the United States of America.

At the age of 17 he began studying at the College of William and Mary. He was first interested in science but then realized that there wasn't a possibility of beginning a scientific career in the state of Virginia. He decided to go into law where he studied under the guardianship of George With. He studied law, science, both ancient and modern history, philosophy, and literature. ...e revolutionary war Jefferson was one of the people who was going to help create the United States written form of government and he was the one who was chosen to write the Articles of Confederation. This was created so that the government didn't have too much power. They didn't want to become like England but they found that would the government was so lax there was no way to enforce the laws.

When they realized that under the Articles of Confederation was too lax they knew they needed to make a new written form of government that could better sustain society so they scheduled the constitutional Convention where Jefferson was chosen to be the one who actually wrote the Constitution. The written form of government that we still have today with only a few modifications. The effect Jeffersons works have on society are monumental. His works we live by today.
