Some people dream of being a sports star or an astronaut, others to be the president or a doctor, Michael Crichton dreamed of being a writer. Crichton’s books have made millions of dollars worldwide and still continue to sell even after his untimely death in 2008. Michael Crichton started writing at a very young age, his brilliance got him into Harvard Medical school were Crichton graduated from and continued a writing career. Michael Crichton’s work was influenced by brilliant writers and the scientific achievements that Crichton grew up around, which caused Crichton to write many scientific thrillers.
Michael Crichton was born on October 23, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois. Crichton’s family included his parents, John Henderson Crichton and Zula Miller Crichton, his siblings, Douglas Crichton, Kimberly Crichton, and Catherine Crichton. Michael Crichton married five times, Joan Radum (1965-1970), Kathy St. Johns (1978-1980), Suzanne Childs (1981-1983), Annie-Marie Martin (1987-2003), and Sherri Alexander (2005-2008). Crichton had two children, Taylor Crichton whom he had with Annie-Marie martin, and John Michael Todd Crichton who was born after Crichton died. Taylor Crichton was born on February 2, 1989 and John Michael Todd Crichton was born on February 12, 2009.
Michael Crichton lived in Los Angeles, California for the later portion of his life. Crichton died on November 4, 2008 after losing a secret battle with cancer, Crichton was 66 years old at the time he died. Crichton’s book Jurassic Park was undoubtingly his most popular book. The writing is amazing, Crichton keeps you on an edge the entire story. Jurassic Park captured a new nightmare for readers, dinosaurs. Crichton made the slow moving giants, fast paced and deadly, it stroke fear in readers. The novel is a great read and easily a favorite of many readers. But Jurassic Park is not the only book of Crichton’s with spectacular writing, all of Michael Crichton’s books have amazing writing, keeping the reader interested and turning pages. Michael Crichton’s writing was scientific and creative, Crichton was a spectacular author.
One similarity between the text and the movie was that everyone was equal in every way. It was important that the filmmakers keep this in the movie because it’s the most important detail in the story. In the short story, “Harrison Bergeron”, it says, “They were equal in every which way. Nobody was smarter than everyone else. Nobody was stronger or quicker than everybody else” (1). If the filmmakers had never kept the equality part in 2081, the storyline would not make any sense. In the movie, everyone that needed handicaps had them including George, Harrison, and the ballerinas.
As good writers do, Kevin has exquisitely used language to favor his side. His wide arsenal includes weapons such as non-sequiturs, vague comparisons, jargons, emotive terms, connoted meanings and multiple others. The author knew that his target audience would not be specialized in bioengineering and its application in the medicine industry. He exploited this vulnerability of theirs by using scientific terms like “formulaic”, “clinically”, “suicidal ideation” and “cardiac hypertrophy” throughout the essay. This usage of jargon (Carroll, 2012) accompanied by him acting as an expert persuades the reader to believe in his writing.
The story of Jurassic Park was written about fourteen years ago by a man named Michael Crichton. His book has now evolved into three movies of Jurassic Park I, II, and III. Steven Speilberg has taken the story of Crichton is transformed it into one of his action packed, suspense thrillers.
Harrison Bergeron is a short story that creates many images and feelings while using symbols and themes to critique aspects of our lives. In the story, the future US government implements a mandatory handicap for any citizens who is over their standards of normal. The goal of the program is to make everyone equal in physical capabilities, mental aptitude and even outward appearance. The story is focused around a husband and wife whose son, Harrison, was taken by the government because he is very strong and smart, and therefore too above normal not to be locked up. But, Harrison’s will is too great. He ends up breaking out of prison, and into a TV studio where he appears on TV. There, he removes the government’s equipment off of himself, and a dancer, before beginning to dance beautifully until they are both killed by the authorities. The author uses this story to satire
“Chaos theory proves that unpredictability is built into our daily lives.”(Crichton 313). Ian Malcolm’s words resolve the book, Jurassic Park, in a very absolute way. Throughout the book, Malcolm, spoke about chaos theory and his self proclaimed “Malcolm Effect” to explain his reasoning in his predictions. Ian Malcolm had predicted the demise of Jurassic Park even before its opening, as well as its multiple problems and difficulties. Malcolm’s theory is evidenced countless times throughout the story of Jurassic Park; dinosaurs are breeding, dinosaurs are escaping, and systems fail.

That ambition drove him to develop one of the greatest medical feats of all time and a build an unprecedented research facility. He had to take many risks and face many people who did not believe in him, but in the end, Jonas Salk accomplished more than anyone thought was possible. Long after his passing, Salk’s legacy of hard work, brilliant ideas, and simple compassion for the human race will live on. He has left his mark on history with his work and he has also placed himself into the future with the research that is being conducted every day in his name. It is only a matter of time before the Salk Institute comes out with another groundbreaking concept proving again what can happen when you mix a little courage, a lot of ambition, and a brilliant mind for science.
Jurassic Park speaks of a fierce world, of masses of relics wandering in the plains, and consuming all that they come across. It is a vehemence to which the mortal man can merely respond with more violence. Jurassic Park proposes to us a revived Darwinian forest, in which animals strive to survive. The fragile ones who fail to survive end up dying and becoming nonexistent, like the fossils. The fierce struggle for territory and food is part of the ingenious procedure by which we originate. That fierce fight is what brings us into being. It is our land. Eventually, the novel proposes that violence is productive. It is the development of the belief that the hominid society flourishes and functions through this violent struggle between contending persons, each hunting for their own benefits. The metaphor ‘Survival for the Fittest’, of lifespan as a Darwinian forest, troubles muchof our communal language today.
“Harrison Bergeron” a short story by Kurt Vonnegut Jr., takes place in a totalitarian society where everyone is equal. A man who tries to play the savior, but ultimately fails in his endeavors to change the world. Vonnegut short story showed political views on communism, which is that total equality is not good (and that equity might be better).
In 1993, Universal Studios released an epic movie known as Jurassic Park. Based on the novel by Michael Crichton, Steven Spielberg and his incredible cast took the viewers on an adventure that brought dinosaurs back from the dead and set the bar for how people would expect special effects in a movie should be. The movie was critically acclaimed and won many awards for special effects and sound. Jurassic Park is one of the greatest movies of all time because it brought dinosaurs to life on screen in a way that had never been attempted before plus leading edge audio/video special effects turned the world on its head with their stunning realism and lifelike sound.

Mainly the comparisons exist through the imagery the authors use to weave the stories together, the structure of each book, the authority of each author, and the use of nature.
Ray Bradbury started writing at a young age. When he first started writing, he wrote poems and short stories. His writing from there progressed into books and started publishing them. His childhood and his experiences had a big influence on his stories. At one point in every bodies life people always look up to someone and aspire to become them. Ray Douglas Bradbury was born on August 22, 1920 in Waukegan Illinois. His mother was Esther, she was a Swedish immigrant, his father was Leonard Spaulding Bradbury, and he had English ancestors. He got his middle name from the actor Douglas Fairbanks. When he was a young boy he read many poems by Edgar Allen Poe and that is what influenced him to write his first books until he was eighteen. Chundu the Magician was a radio show that was a hugh impact on Bradbury’s life. After the show ended Bradbury wrote every episode by memory and that is what got him into writing. When he was a kid he was born and raised in Waukegan, which is the setting for many of his stories. Also in LA he met a police man that inspired him to write the book Fahrenheit 451. The radio show Chundu the magician, Edgar Allan Poe, and many cities influenced Ray Bradbury’s novels, this can be seen in Fahrenheit 451, The Martian Chronicles, and Something Wicked Comes this Way.
