Ferdinand Marcos was famous for ruling Philippine island with an iron fist for nearly two decades. He was also known for implementing a brutal martial law which gives the military to exercise their extraordinary power to maintain order, with his superior position in the senate, martial law was his excuse in uncontrolled growing level of the communist party called New People’s Army or NPA. He was the first president in the Philippine presidential history to be reelected twice in his term.

Ferdinand was born on September 11, 1917 in a small village in Ilocos Norte, located in the northern part of Luzon, called Sarat. His parents Josefa Edralin and Mariano Marcos were both school teachers. Many rumors had spread stating Ferdinand’s biological father was Ferdinand Chua, a wealthy Chinese-Filipino individual in the position of a municipal judge in a local city, but Ferdinand claims he was the godfather. In Ferdinand later years, as he went to school and pursue his dream to become a lawyer, Chua became responsible for his educational finances and overturned his fate for his conviction of murder.

He was accepted at the University of the Philippines, one of the top and finest among all the universities and he did well in school. Many of his classmates were amazed in his ability to retain complicated text and recite them forwards and backwards. His intelligence was his key in becoming a president. While in college, he was accused of killing Julio Nalundasan at his own private residence with a .22 caliber while celebrating victoriously by winning the congressional election over his political rival, Mariano Marcos.

Later, Ferdinand died of lupus erythematosus, a rapid deterioration of the kidneys, in Hawaii on 1989.

When Imelda came back from Hawaii, a court in the Philippines charged her of corruption and has an order for her arrest. On 2001, the warrant was issued and later post bailed for $2400 to avoid being jailed. Later, after the years of terror and abuse of his late husband, the Marcos family agreed to pay $150 million to the victims of human rights and abuses.
