The Movie Experience Many avid movie watchers, may find themselves in a dilemma when it comes to deciding whether or not to watch a movie at home or go to the movie theater. Movies are a great way to relax or can be a source for entertainment. There are many variables that needs to be processed to determine whether or not to stay in and rent a movie, or go to the movie theater. When determining whether to watch a movie at the theater or wait until the movie comes out on DVD, the cost, convenience, and quality are the three differences to consider. Cost is the first difference between going to the movies or staying at home. When choosing whether to go to to movies or rent a DVD, cost plays an important role. Whenever someone chooses to go …show more content…
One thing about going to the movie theater is that it is something out of the ordinary. Going to the theater can be very entertaining. It is nice to get out of the house and have a date night or a family fun night. Also, whenever a movie comes out, it is released in the theater first. So if there is a movie someone is looking forward to seeing, going to the theater will be the fastest way to see it. To some people there are the “must see” movies. Going to the theater for these movies is the best option when someone cannot wait to the movie. Staying in and watching a movie is also convenient. A person can have control of their surroundings and be more comfortable. One of the most convenient things about staying at home is that they don't have to deal with rude, annoying people. Many people cannot stand when people continue to talk or get on their phone during the movie in the theater. Another convenience of staying at home is that they have opportunity to pause the movie at anytime. This especially is important if someone really has to use the restroom. Dressing comfortably, laying down, and lounging around are other conveniences that can ultimately decide on what choice someone may make. It is definitely nice to be comfortable and relaxed in their own home. One of the downfalls of renting and watching a movie is that whenever a movie comes out, it goes to the theaters first, and DVD a few months

My favorite candy is Milk Duds, but they can cost almost seven dollars a package! You can buy them several dollars cheaper, or as low as fifty cents at a corner store nearby. This brings us into my first reason why I think outside food should be allowed, it’s cheaper. You already pay an arm and a leg for a movie ticket, but if you want something to eat while watching the film, then you have to pay an unreasonable price to get just a small popcorn or candy. Recent studies have shown that the average cost people spend on a ticket, snack, and small drink is anywhere from around twenty dollars for a single person, and around fifty dollars for at least three. This is ridiculous, just imagine, if you went to a showing every night, you’d be spending almost two hundred dollars! Think of all the better ways you could use that money, to
Movies have been one of the most popular pastimes for Americans for decades. They are the topics of conversation, a place for lovers to go on dates, and an industry that the general public seems to have a fascination for. However although we think of movies as another entertainment source, they were not always as socially accepted by the people. In 1904, Harry Davis opened the first freestanding moving-picture theater. Although he was met with much skepticism, his idea would have a lasting effect on America's culture. When they first opened, the people were not immediately accepting. Safety, cleanliness, and price were a few of the concerns the public had. After a few changes however, the "nickelodeons", as they were called, started booming. Flashing lights were put up wherever there was room on the façade of the buildings. Ventilation systems assured people that they were br...
After a company decides on its product(s), it has to think how it will price said product(s). Disney goes about pricing for all of its products in different ways. For instance, Disney’s amusement park tickets are cheaper during times of the year that it is the least busy and the tickets prices rise during sessions that the parks are busiest ("Your Ticket"). However, Disney’s biggest competitor, Universal Studios, goes about things in a very different way. Universal Studios tickets cost the same no matter
Film and literature are two media forms that are so closely related, that we often forget there is a distinction between them. We often just view the movie as an extension of the book because most movies are based on novels or short stories. Because we are accustomed to this sequence of production, first the novel, then the motion picture, we often find ourselves making value judgments about a movie, based upon our feelings on the novel. It is this overlapping of the creative processes that prevents us from seeing movies as distinct and separate art forms from the novels they are based on.
Movie theaters are conglomerates in the film industry. Only a few competing firms. Offer the same ticket prices and provide the same products and roughly the same services to customers.
When we first got to the movie theater, it was around 4:20 in the afternoon. The movie didn’t start until 4:45 so we sat in the car for a few minutes. I noticed that were only a few other cars in the parking lot. When we walked up to the ticket booth there was a sign saying to buy our tickets at the concession stand so we proceeded to go inside. The lobby featured a game room to your right as you enter and a large concession stand. The tickets were at matinee price which is seven dollars. This is only two dollars cheaper than the regular price for admission. I decided not to buy any snacks due to being familiar with the cinema’s prices. One of my friends spent around twenty dollars on popcorn, a drink , and her ticket. There is a “manager special” at the theater that includes two large drinks...
...verage, up-to-date selection, and convenient service. The movie rental market is not bad, but it will require a good market strategy. As Jay Abraham once said, "If you're attacking your market from multiple positions and your competition isn't, you have all the advantage and it will show up in your increased success and income.”
A movie theater has its advantages and disadvantages. One advantage is that people can see the showing of different movies that have been newly released. The disadvantage is that, that is all there is to it and nothing more. At home, you can control the variety and ways to watch a movie. People buy many movies to watch at home and it can be anything at any time even at any place. The only bad thing about it is that they cannot see any of the newest released movies that recently came out in theaters. There are two types of ways people watch movies at their homes. One way is people already own DVDs or have bought many of them and start watching them in their DVD players. The other ways are streaming a movie through the internet. For this to happen, people would mainly buy the monthly subscriptions such as Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime. Through this subscription people do not only watch movies in their homes but they also watch television shows. The only downside is there is a very limited number of movies added onto these
Many people go to the movies. The movies are an escape into a fantasy world. Everyone has a different preference on what kind of movie is the best. Romance, horror, action, and comedy are different types of movies. The kind of movie someone goes to see can give clues to what kind of person they are.
Going to the movies is probably one of the most enjoyable pastimes throughout the world. From western society to the Asian countries, watching movies is pleasant for nearly anybody. I currently work at the local cinema. Therefore I have decided to study the culture of moviegoers. I looked at many different aspects within the past months. I took time for myself in small, little, breaks to study and document the actions of the people. From their attitudes entering and leaving the cinemas, to the way they behaved and even the way they clothed themselves. I will be going into the field with a general question in mind of what I wish to learn. “How do individuals respond to each other in a moving going experience?” I will also look into how families communicate to each other compared to how a group of friends interact. In contrast to that outsider or etic outlook at our moviegoers, I will take an insider or emic perspective of the site and actually go out on my days off work and watch a movie portraying an actual moviegoer while no one in this culture within Stars will suspect a thing.

Movies take us inside the skin of people quite different from ourselves and to places different from our routine surroundings. As humans, we always seek enlargement of our being and wanted to be more than ourselves. Each one of us, by nature, sees the world with a perspective and selectivity different from others. But, we want to see the world through other’s eyes; imagine with other’s imaginations; feel with other’s hearts, at a same time as with our own. Movies offer us a window onto the wider world, broadening our perspective and opening our eyes to new wonders.
Going to the theater does not come free, so you have to aware of the all cost you are planning to spend in the theater. First, you have to spend for movies tickets which cost an average of ten to twelve dollars. Besides tickets, you may buy some food and drinks. The cost of popcorn and drinks is more expensive in the movie theater. In addition, you also have to pay for transportation such as bus fee or gas. In contrast, you do not have to worry about tickets fees and expensive food at home. You can get popcorn from a supermarket which cost ...
When debating Netflix and movie theaters the factors to consider are convenience, variety, price, and the experience. These are the four most important factors, because people want the best quality that is the most cost effective. Through my research, I show that movie theaters have an unsurpassed experience associated with them, but Netflix is convenient, affordable, and has a wide array of programs.
