I feel that the communication module has professionally enriched me in terms of having an effective communication. Moreover, it has brought about qualitative changes in my overall communication skills thereby broadening my vision towards having an effective communication in future. During three weeks of communication module, all the impediments to and weaknesses in effective public speaking, active listening and teamwork were discussed. And then, with the help of class discussions and written literature, varieties of ways and means were evolved to overcome these hindrances.
The first part of the communication module was public speaking. Before attending the communication module, I was not quite proficient in public speaking. Some of weaknesses during public speaking included improper eye contact, static position during speech making, too much focus on the slides of presentation, poor voice variations, less emphasis on non verbal gestures, etc. ironically, I took these weakness for granted and never tried to realize their negative effect on my speech making. To me, public speaking simply meant to utter few words. I never tried to make a relationship with my audience during the public speaking. Instead, I also used to take the audience for granted.
After attending the communication module, I have acquired all the requisite knowledge for effective public speaking. Now, all the do’s and don’ts for an effective public speaking are on my finger tips. Moreover, during the module, the assignment of making class presentation on any topic of choice was very beneficial. It enabled us to carefully exhibit all the essentials for effective speech making. Similarly, during the same class presentation, our role as a coach was also very b...

Thus, the communication module has taught that the process of communication is more than uttering a few words. The module has described communication as a process of establishing the relationship between the sender (speaker) and the receiver (listener). It is a two way traffic which should flow smoothly in order to achieve its goals. Moreover, the communication module successfully highlighted the ways and means to overcome the stumbling blocks in effective public speaking, active listening and teamwork. After attending the module, I intend to implement my acquired knowledge to effectively decipher the mental codes of the individuals to achieve the desired goals.
Being a good public speaker is an important skill to have because it improves various areas of everyday life. Public speaking improves communication skills which as a result improves relationships with others. Listening and understanding what someone is saying makes it easier to respond to them in an appropriate way and having that form of effective communication makes people want to have more interactions in the future. One of the most important skills obtained from public speaking is that it improve confidence in one’s communicating skills and increases one’s ability to read people. Being able to read others and understand their emotions and nonverbal communication helps someone understand if their point is being received and responded to in a positive way.
In today’s world students and adults who can use the power of public speaking are a rare find. Lucas states in chapter one that “the American Management Association asked 2,000 managers and executives to rank the skills most essential in today’s workplace. The top idea, was communication skills” (Lucas, 2012 pg. 5). This statement showes us that college students who have taking public speaking truly have an advantage over those who have
Successful communication is critical for effective exchanges of information between individuals in every aspect of life, especially business. In the realm of business, be it planning, organizing, controlling, leading, or evaluating, accurate communication empowers satisfaction, trust and progress. Chuck Williams describes communication when he wrote "…consider that effective oral communication—achieved by listening, following instructions, conversing, and giving feedback—is the most important skill for college graduates who are entering the workforce. Communication is the process of transmitting information from one person or place to another" (Williams, 2015).
Communication is the process of conveying information to each another using words, actions, or by writing the information down to be read by another person. Communication is something that most people do at some point each day, and is an important part of life especially in a working environment. “The concept of communication is an essential part of every profession, and it is required to foster and maintain healthy relationships”( Jasmine, 2009, para. 1).

When I found out I had to take a communications course, I thought I was going to die. I literally thought I was going to pass out during a speech and hit my head in front of the entire class. Alas, I can know say I made it through a public speaking course. I know it sounds dramatic, but the idea of speaking for an audience simply terrified me. In taking the course, I realized that communications did not only entail public speaking, but also the ability to communicate with others on a day to day basis. As the course progressed, I began to hone in on specific goals for myself as communicator, which included the development of my verbal delivery skills, the improvement of my nonverbal delivery skills, as well as becoming a stronger
For some individuals talking before a vast gathering of people is an overwhelming duty, so it is very normal to end up exceptionally apprehensive. Public talking is the point at which you remain before a group of people and convey a discourse at a formal or a casual event. It is imperative that the individual talking is shown abilities and procedures to talk well and talk adequately before a meeting or conference. Notwithstanding, to be a decent speaker, you should know these different reasons for public speaking and the quirks of every last one of them.
Communication is a crucial and an essential skill that individuals strive to obtain. Without communication individuals would struggle to try and understand one another, sending or relaying messages would translate as unclear, and as a result they would not know what is happening around them.
Over the recent four months in Communication 1402 class, I have addressed three formal speechs and completed a number of chapters in the corresponding textbook “Communication Works”. This course of Communication aims to provide general information what public speaking is and how to address a public speaking. Recalling back the experience during the processes of completing the Speech to Imform, Speech to Persuade, and Group Presentation, I will draw a conclusion about this course and these three presentations in five aspects, comprising my previous perception of public speaking before this course; learning from the Speech to Inform; the goal and evaluation of Speech to Persuade; learning from the Group Presentation; the most important thing learned from this course.
Making a successful public presentation or speech to an audience was a very big task for me before I joined the public speaking class. I was always frightened and very nervous. Since then I now understand the process of making a speech or a presentation including coming up with a topic and from this topic develop the main points of the speech, research, organize my points, revise them, edit and make a magnificent presentation to any audience. People in the audience might sometimes agree or disagree with my opinion or points, it was therefore necessary to communicate my information clearly to the audience without making any judgments since every person was entitled to a different opinion and views about things.

Communication is one of the most important factors in our lives. It dictates the relationships formed with the individuals in personal and professional lives. Effective communication provides a foundation for trust and respect to grow. It also helps better understand a person and the context of the conversation. Individuals often believe that their communication skills are much better than what they actually are. Communication appears effortless; however, much of what two people discuss gets misunderstood, thus leading to conflicts and distress. To communicate effectively, one must understand the emotion behind the information being said. Knowing how to communicate effectively can improve relationships one has at home, work and in social affairs. Irrespective of the environment in which one works, communication is always vital and a key factor of success. Communication happens both physically and verbally and is absolutely essential if you want to inform someone about something. ‘Loud shouting and even violence are symptoms of the ailment, not remedies.’ (Adair 2009: 3). Communication has two main components; sending out a message to someone, and ensuring the message is received correctly to the other member of the conversation. It is thus fair to say speaking and listening are vital to effective communication. This essay will initially introduce me as a student, and my career. I will give a simple SWOT analysis of me and will then go on and breakdown the different methods and techniques of effective communication. Finally, I will talk about how effective communication is needed in my current position, as well as the future.
“DA-DA!” Who would have known that a simple word like that could be so powerful and strong enough to make a grown man like myself cry. In every job setting, a great way to represent ourselves is through communication. Communication is stemmed from the act of speech, in which plays a huge role, not only at a workplace but in reality as well. Great speech practices may enhance a person’s opportunity of moving up within the company he or she works for, as well as venturing off to higher positions in a professional field. Having the ability to speak well is closely related to the ability to listen well. Speaking well in a professional setting can cause one to stand out over others more and help interpret a great first impression of who that person is.
