According to United Nations Children’s Fund, also known as UNICEF recorded that over 2.1 billion people worldwide are considered to be living in poverty. UNICEF states that those 2.1 billion people are living on less than a United States dollar each day. If you thought that was a large amount of people worldwide that live in tough financial situations, then knowing that 1.6 billion people are living with two dollars or less might be a bit tougher to take in. These numbers combined would almost equal half of the world’s population. What can we do to save these people from poverty? Its simple, just start or continue donating. UNICEF is a huge non profit organization in which donations are highly satisfying each time.
Poverty is defined as someone who is extremely poor. The World Bank Atlas Method calculates GNI which stands for Gross National Income. This method is provided by The World Bank. The World Bank helps poverty in many cases, such as reducing poverty in developing countries by providing them with money and technical expertise. The World Bank Atlas Method calculated that people who make 735 dollars or less per year were considered poor. Some of the poorest countries in the world average out at 735 dollars or less. This average would include all citizens in that country working. Some of the worlds low income countries would include many of the African countries, Chad, Ethiopia, and many more. Even the big country of southern Asia, India, is considered low income!

...ns. Overall global poverty is an issue with no clear answer. Each day, millions of people die and go to bed hungry while millions of others spend money on nonessential items. If everyone can share some type of monetary donation to relief organizations, we can maximize the happiness of the poor around the world, hopefully eradicating global poverty.
Poverty in Developing and Less Developed Countries The world includes less developed countries and developing countries. Less developed countries are countries considered to be poor and often contain many people who are in absolute poverty. Developing countries are countries like India, which are gaining in wealth. It varies in definition from one person to another. (Mills, 2000) However, the kind of poverty I will be talking about is the situation that comes to one’s mind on hearing the word; lack of basic needs and living from hand to mouth. This was a situation that I was in some time back not out of choice though. I was unlucky just as many kids born in a poor family where my parents aren’t really earning much and in that event one of the parents or both dies.
Poverty is a global epidemic that contributes to the deaths of millions each year. However, poverty is more prominent in some areas around the world than others. The Oxford dictionary defines poverty as the state or condition of having little or no money, goods, or means of support, but it’s so much more. Poverty can be defined as being hungry, lacking shelter, being unable to go to school, being unable to see a doctor, or being powerless and having a lack of freedom. The reason behind the many descriptions of poverty is that poverty has many faces, and its definition changes depending on the place and time, however the effects of poverty on the poor are always the same.
Many people do not realize that there are tens of millions of people in America who are living in poverty because they are stuck on the fact that America is one of the richest nations. People who are living in poverty barely have enough money to survive on basic necessities like food, shelter and electricity. They often have a hectic schedule filled with work, school, or other activities that they have to do in order for them to live a somewhat stable life. Unfortunately, there are others who are living in poverty that may be ill or disabled and barely able to survive even if they are receiving money to help with their situation. There are a few programs that help those in poverty with their financial problems, but they only help them to a certain extent. Changes need to be done to help alleviate the poverty rate because these people should not have to deal with all of these hardships or have such a negative perspective of life. Therefore, America can reduce its poverty by raising the minimum wage, making health care more accessible, and by making child care more affordable. These solutions will be a great start to reducing poverty and they will lead America into a brighter future.

It is a multifaceted concept, which includes social, economic, and political elements. Poverty seems to be chronic or temporary, and most of the time it is closely related to inequality. As a dynamic concept, poverty is changing and adapting according to consumption patterns, social dynamics and technological change. Absolute poverty or destitution refers to the deprivation of basic human needs, which commonly includes food, water, sanitation, clothing, shelter and health care.

Poverty is “the state of one who lacks a usual or socially acceptable amount of money or material possessions” (Merriam-Webster dictionary, 2015); in other words, struggling to provide a comfortable living style. It is the cause of family stress and many other problems, especially for the children. What is poverty? Well, according to Webster's Third New International Dictionary, poverty is "lack of money or material possessions; poor." Two-thirds of the world's population fits this definition. I know that many times we think of being poor as not being able to buy the car we want or take the trip we can only dream about. However, being poor, living in poverty, hits a lot lower than that. For example, a resident of the country of Chad will only bring in $100 each year. Since many people can make more than that in one week, some in one day, can you imagine having the feed a family of five or six, or even a family of two, on only $100 a year? These are the conditions that exist in poverty-stricken countries.
Has anyone ever considered thinking about what the world is really going through? How many people don’t have the necessities in order to survive? If so, what are these people going through? Poverty is one that can have a huge effect on not only one person, but also the people around him/her. A person might look like they are poor or think that they are, but by definition they really are not even close. Every country has poverty levels that decide if they are poor or not.
