To toke or not to toke that is the question. Whether tis nobler in the
mind to suffer the slings and arrows of society or succumb to popular opinion
and legalize Marijuana. Marijuana is a cure for anorexia as well as glaucoma.
Marijuana is even a helping factor for relieving some symptoms of A.I.D.S.
Still the government of our nation has Marijuana classified as a Division I drug.
Which means it serves no medical use and does in no way benefit society. The
studies outdated and scientifically proven to be incorrect still remain beliefs
of our government.
Supporters of the legalization of Marijuana have many scientifically
proven facts that point to the fact Marijuana should be legalized. Marijuana
legalization would prove to be beneficial in a number of areas. The first bonus
to legalizing Marijuana is its medical uses. Marijuana stimulates the immune
system and serves as a cure for glaucoma. Marijuana helps people with AIDS
retain and eat food.
Marijuana use also has intellectual benefits. Marijuana increases alpha
wave activity in the brain. The alpha waves are associated with creativity.
This creativity is potentially the foundation of literary and musical
revelation. Bob Marley was one of the most influential musical composers of all
times. Marley's music has persevered throughout the years. He openly admitted,
on many occasions, to smoking marijuana before he wrote and composed songs.
Marley's influence is global. His nickname of "the Legend" has distinguished
him from many other musicians. His global fame separates him from all other
musicians. Many people have attributed Marley's creative genius to his use of
marijuana.
Socially, marijuana is better from the standpoint of addiction.
Marijuana is less addictive than tobacco. Essentially marijuana is neither as
physically nor mentally addictive as Nicotine. Another social benefit of
marijuana is its not cancer causing when compared to legal drugs like caffeine
or Cigarettes. These are only a few of the reasons that Marijuana legal.
To really get into the legalization issue not only do you have to look
into the facts of the case but also the employment effects it would have.
Granted there are no hard facts that say marijuana needs to be legal (or
illegal). If a person tries pictures the number of jobs a single American
field of Marijuana would create, they find i...

...yet the
government says that it still harms you when you smoke it. The government
refers to the thousands of chemicals in marijuana you still do inhale when you
smoke it. The government fails to mention that every cup of coffee has eight
hundred volatile chemicals. After testing a mere twenty-one of the chemicals
in coffee studies found that sixteen of them were cancerous. However, coffee
considered fairly safe is legal.
Investigating each fact of the two cases dealing with marijuana it
seems that marijuana should be legal The legalization activists seem to have
the answer to almost every fact presented by the anti-marijuana activists. The
American public needs to look on these facts as they formulate their personal
opinion. This debate is too important to let uneducated people decide the fate
of others. America needs to get rid of the old stereotypes of marijuana and
formulate their opinion on facts not fancy.

Paired with Gilgamesh, the two figures represent the Double. Enkidu embodies the instincts while Gilgamesh represents the intellect. Both of these aspects make up humankind. Through his friendship with Enkidu, Gilgamesh learns much about what it is to be human. He learns love and compassion, as well as death and loss as Enkidu dies. But Enkidu rages against his death! It is human instinct to fight death, to fight to live! Enkidu is soon appeased though by the sun god Shamash who gives death meaning in remembrance of those who have passed on, of Enkidu who will pass on. So we find in this story a meaning for death - meaning in being remembered.
does not mean it is perfectly safe. Some medicine may have side effects, but the FDA considers
Can anyone possibly imagen the types of abusive traumas that children experience and how can they impact their lives? A child experiencing trauma at a young age could be very crucial for their development. Childhood trauma can range from minor to complex. An event occurring in a community where a child resides can impact trauma on a child. On the contrary, there are events that can be way more complex, such as a domestic violence involving a child. There are a few signs that children show, to notify someone that they have experienced trauma. The signs can vary depending on the age group of the child. Trauma can also lead children to develop stress at an early age. In addition to withdrawal from normal activities as well. The types
...loping cognitive, emotional and social problems that may continue throughout the lifespan. Child abuse can also impede on the important attachment relationship infants have with their primary caregiver at early ages. This disruption can further lead to further developmental issues such as behavioural problems. This negative interaction during childhood can have continual physical, intellectual, and psychological consequences that may be evident in later periods of life for the individual. However, the different ways in which children react to experiences also needs to be noted as not every child reacts in the same way. Genes and experience both play important roles in the way a child’s reaction towards abuse and neglect. An individual who experienced maltreatment as a child, may not necessarily have developmental or attachment issues and actually develop normally.
The Epic of Gilgamesh, the oldest surviving epic in history, reflected life as it was during the early Bronze Age. Many of the themes that the epic reveals are still valuable today in what it can teach us about how society was in the past. More importantly, Gilgamesh’s story teaches the reader how the lessons of his experience are significant to future generations. Such as, views on life and death and the search for knowledge and immortality. The search for immortality has plagued the minds of men and women for millenniums. However, Gilgamesh’s quest for immortality is the result of tragedy. After the death of a great friend, Enkidu, Gilgamesh fears for his own mortal life.
The Epic of Gilgamesh is about the King of Uruk, Gilgamesh, who is two-thirds god and one-third man. This story teaches people that life is always changing and it influences us immensely. Several themes are put forth in this story. One theme is love. Enkidu’s love in friendship changed Gilgamesh for the better. This epic shows that interactions with gods (divine) are dangerous because they disapprove the fact that they are being challenged. Another theme is death and immortality. Enkidu dies and this leaves Gilgamesh heartbroken. He wants to avoid his death so starts out to find Utnapishtim. The gods had granted him (Utnapishtim) an eternal life after the flood. However, we learn to accept death and acknowledge that humans
Psyche defies Venus once again, Venus makes Psyche perform these certain tasks to prove she is worthy of her son, Cupid. Venus makes these tasks impossible knowing that Psyche will not be able to perform them especially since she is mortal. The first task is that Psyche has to sort a heap of seeds, wheat, and poppy into their own piles by nightfall. Psyche thinks to herself “how in the world am I going to finish this.” Then, little ants come and feel bad and decide to help her. They separate and divide until the work is done. Venus sees this and is very angry and says “Your work is by no means over” (p 130). Venus proceeds to give Psyche a piece of bread crust and makes her sleep on the ground because she feels if she were to starve her then that beauty of hers would soon go away. The next task is for Psyche to go near the river bank where there are sheep with fleeces of gold and wants her to catch some of their shiny wool. When she gets down to the river bank she hears a little voice tell her that if she waited until evening she could go and fetch wool that was caught on the fences. She takes a big quantity of it back to Venus but Venus tells her there was no way she did it by herself and someone must have helped her and that is unacceptable. The third opportunity she has to prove herself is to go to the terrible river, called Styx. Venus gives her a flask that she has to fill and Psyche realizes this would be the worst task yet because when she reaches the river it is so steep and rocks are all up on the sides, but to her luck an eagle swoops down and takes the flask and brings it back filled up with the water. The last task Venus has for Psyche is to take a box that she is given, to the underworld and ask Persephone to fill it with some of her beauty. She is supposed to tell her that Venus really needs it because she is worn out from nursing her son back to health.
Medical marijuana has been used for centuries to combat pain, weakness, anxiety, insomnia, female problems and nausea. Today it is commonly used by cancer and AIDS patients to stimulate hunger, combat nausea and vomiting induced by chemotherapy or other drug therapy and reduce pain. It has also been shown to be effective in reducing eye pressure, especially in the cases with glaucoma. Medical marijuana, or cannabis, is derived from the Cannabis sativa plant and there is some evidence of cannabis being used medicinally for over four thousand years. Many believe that medical marijuana is a healthy and natural alternative to dangerous and toxic pharmaceuticals that often have side effects worse than the original condition. The United Sates declared marijuana a narcotic and declared it illegal with the passing of the Marijuana Tax Act of 1937.
Psyche was the most beautiful of the three daughters of an unnamed king. People admired her beauty that angered goddess Venus. The god of Love, Cupid, fell in love with her. Following the oracle from Apollo, Psyche met Cupid at night, in the dark and fel...
For thousands of years human beings have attempted to find ways to get passed the struggles of their lives. With the pain of the world stopping people from enjoying simple pleasures, sometimes there is a need for help. Marijuana brings millions of people relief from the pain they feel on a day-to-day basis. This completely natural plant which helped so many people has puzzled the leaders of our nation for a long time. The THC in marijuana causes its users to experience a mild-huluciginic or high. The effect that marijuana has on a person has prevented the product from being legalized. Many other details about the plant, like the speculation of it being a gateway drug, have put another blockage on its legalization. Even though there are speculations about the plant, the benefit that it brings to the table most definitely out way its disadvantages. Marijuana can also alleviate several symptoms associated with cancer and Aids treatments and disorders. While Marijuana is effective as a medicine, it is also extremely lucrative. The economic benefits that Marijuana brings to the table are endless. Upon marijuana’s legalization, the economy would experience an immediate influx. Legalization of Marijuana would also drastically reduce crime in our cities and form a more productive society through its positive uses. The benefits that marijuana brings medically and economically are considerable enough to legalize its use medically or recreational.
Gilman states,“I never saw so much expression in an inanimate thing before, and we all know how much expression they have! I used to lie awake as a child and get more entertainment and terror out of blank walls and plain furniture than most children could find in a toy-store”(Gilman 650). Due to the speaker’s “resting cure”, she begins losing her sanity. While reading"The Yellow Wallpaper," we see the narrator’s descent into madness through her eyes, as her mind grows more chaotic, and as she begins seeing shapes in the wallpaper. One analyst states,”this is the ultimate example of showing, not telling. We have to deduce from her frantic writing style that there isn’t actually a woman trapped in the wallpaper; the narrator just thinks there is because she’s losing her grip on reality” (Shmoop Editorial Team). The author is showing her descent into madness by slowly changing the writing style from simple diary entries to haphazard and frantic telling of what is going through her
Culture can shape our view of the world. It sounds very too obvious to even be an argument. Many studies have shown that people from different cultures see and perceive things differently and that is probably due to how there culture shaped the way they view the world. While I agree with this idea, I think people often overlook how culture can be different for each individual and therefore affected by it differently. I would like to argue how we should not just label people into culture in terms we often do.
Child abuse causes many negative effects. Every child who has suffered abuse is affected differently. The effects of abuse can be divided into physical damage, emotional damage, and social damage (Briere & Runtz,1986,p.76).
Child abuse as defined by American Society for the Positive Care of Children (American SPCC, 2017) is any physical, emotional, or mental harm that occurs to a child through the action, or lack of action, by a guardian or caretaker. There are many different forms of child abuse which can result in serious injury and even death. These forms of abuse include physical abuse, emotional abuse, sexual abuse, verbal abuse, neglect, substance abuse by guardians or caretaker of child, and even abandonment (American SPCC, 2017). Many people find it inconceivable that someone would hurt a child, but in reality child abuse occurs every day. Child abuse can be facilitated by many factors such as stress, frustration, or even amusement. The World Health Organization
Children can experience many different psychological issues after being abused. One of the most common issues is a feeling of worthlessness; many children find it hard to regain their self-esteem after being put down repeatedly or being violated for no rational reason. When a child who has been abused grows up they may experience problems when it comes to jobs, they might not believe they are qualified for a certain position or that their coworkers are superior to them (Saisan). Abused children can also have a difficult time expressing emotions, which can lead to anxiety, depression, and anger. It is not uncommon for a child to lash out at someone who is trying to...
