There are many different things that I take into consideration when it comes to parenting. Parents have many different responsibilities but there are three in particular that I think are very important. Being a good role model is important, as well as listening to your children and disciplining them appropriately. If you want to be a good parent you have to put your kids first.
The first responsibility that I think is very important is being a good example for your kids. Parents are examples for their kids whether they like it or not. My boys watch and copy everything that I do, and even if I don’t think their listening they are listening. If they see me finishing school and working a good job that’s what they will expect to do themselves because that is all that they know. Children are like sponges. I want to show my kids how to be a good person by being a good person myself. As a parent I want my children to know that they can be anything they want to be, but at the same time I am controlling their physical and moral environment so that they can be good people. I want them to be in an environment where they can develop habits of honesty, generosity, and responsibility.
I think that one of the greatest things that I can do for my kids is to take them seriously and listen to them. My five year old is constantly showing me everything that he learns and it’s very easy to tune him out sometimes, but I think its very important not to. It is important to listen because if you don’t give your kids enough attention they might try and seek it in a negative way. It is important to listen to your children when they have learned something new or want to tell you something that they are proud of. Children seek your approval, and that gives them confidence.
Lastly discipline is another very important responsibility. The best thing to do is to pick your battles, because if you are constantly saying “no” your child will tune it out. You also have to be consistent. For example, you can’t let your child eat candy before dinner one night and then tell them not to the next night, you will be sending them mixed signals.
Carry Your Own Skis by Lian Dolan is one of my favorite texts because it teaches discipline and responsibility. I think that these are two of the most important lessons that a parent can teach their children. Discipline will help a person be successful in life. With discipline at a young age, a person is more likely to make smarter decisions. Many will start to think about their actions and decide what they really want in life. Responsibility is a big part of life. Without it, a person won’t be able to become very successful. If you don’t achieve these traits, you won’t be...
Children are our future of the world. They are the ones who will create the next generation. Therefore, it is important to start young within children, teaching them right from wrong. It is important preventing them from following the same negative patterns as kids of today. Many kids today do not really have a strong discipline, love and support at home. In general being a parent does not come easy or, with a manual on how to be a positive effective parent. There is a different factor that causes children to be disobedient or out of control. Or sometimes the parent can be doing everything right and shows much love as they can for their child. But, the child is given a negative and avoidance feedback.
Basically be on top of everything your children do during their lives but also don’t ruin their fun when they are having it. Help them understand why they are being pushed so hard to accomplish certain things. The day they know the day they will be doing the things they need to do without even being asked just knowing it needs to be done. Being too strict can lead your children to not care later on in the future, for some but for others they may just give up on school or just stop listening to their parents because they feel they are too pushy and are just tired of it all.
There are many key components to shaping a young child 's life and could be better implemented through professionalism. I like to reflect back to the “Children See Children Do” video, which clearly proves children imitate/learn verbal and nonverbal cues from adults. As a teacher, it is necessary to be the best version of yourself everyday, in order to pass those actions along. This not only affects a child 's ethics but it also generates better behavior which affects the parents lives in a more positive way outside of the classroom. This module has taught me many different techniques when working with a misbehaved child. For instance, I plan to use self awareness in my classroom to keep a positive tone and eliminate poor body language. I will also use breathing methods for children as well as myself to establish a well-rounded classroom. Professionalism is such an important role in shaping our young child 's lives and it deserves to be stressed more which will in turn create a better learning
It’s easy to say that raising children demands time and effort and being a good parent is complicated. The best way to raise a child for success is to discipline them when it comes to responsibility and respect. Be open to communication with your child. And let them experience new things and express themselves.
When dealing with children, parents and educators usually have a hard time in understanding kids in order to help them follow guidelines. It is a great achievement to be able to adhere to children and keep them on the right path. When one has to deal with a child it is very difficult to communicate, understand, and listen in order to get a feel of how to guide the child. If all these components are obtained then it can lead to a positive relationship with the child all the way to adulthood. If the parent and educators want to truly create an open communication and stable environment they should utilize the book, How To Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen so Kids Will Talk by Adele Faber and Elaine Mazlish. It can guide you to establish communication skills and help better in dealing with children. “The Science of Raising Courageous Kids” by Martin Brokenleg and Steve Van Bockern is proof that validates Faber and Mazlish’s practice.
There are many approaches to parenting and everyone has their own preferences as to what they think is best. In a fast paced rush around society, it is hard to know what the best choices are for your children. There is a struggle to balance what needs to be done with what can be done, and this has negative and positive feedback on the children. Parents play a critical role in shaping and guiding their children into functional confident adults. An effective parent will learn as they teach in order to grow into understanding with their children.
Understanding and applying above information can help me to adjust and apply new things to my current parenting strategy. Instead of focusing too much on thinking what I should do for my children, I spend time to understand and explore what my children really need in each stage of their life. Especially during adolescence or teenager period, I desire to not only be their mom, but also be their real friend, whom my children can share everything with, even the most secret in their life. Therefore, I learn and practice day-by-day listening to my children, respecting what they want to do, and accepting various aspects of my children. On the other hand, I try all my best to protect my children from dangerous situations, but still prevent overprotecting them from small things, and give them some spaces to explore and learn new things by themselves. Besides that, the hustle and bustle of life easily makes my husband and I fall into some stress issues unintentionally that also affects our parenting approaches. We need to learn to control our temper as much as possible because it is important to be as calm and reasonable when explaining rules or carry them out in front of my children. As parent works are never done, each parent can make mistakes and learning from mistakes also can bring some benefits to adjust our parenting. Although the focus is on the child, my husbands and I never forget about each other. We love, understand and take care each other and proudly show my children that we are happy, united and consistent when doing or saying something to them. We do all my best and enjoy experiencing the toughest yet most meaningful job in our life – the
Children are the future of the world and need to be nurtured and educated in the best conditions. Thus, parenting is one of the most challenging and admirable responsibilities that people can experience. Parenting plays important roles in the development of children’s characteristics. Some people nurture children depending on their own ways. Others get advice from friends or books. Parenting can be divided into three groups: authoritative, permissive, and democratic parenting.
Parenting is the most difficult and most important job we ever do. Unfortunately, despite the degree of difficulty and importance of the work, no one teaches us how to do it. Fortunately, there are many child raising experts who can help. I will mention a few experts; whose work I believe is valuable, throughout this article and I encourage readers to find experts whose work they like.
Children need to learn responsibility at an early age. It is something that can be taught to them by implementing small changes into their routine. These changes will help instill pride and the idea of accomplishment. Once present, they will want to continue this positive feedback, which in turn will teach them responsibility. Chores teach children responsibility.
Parents, who worry about the child’s future, attempt to set good morality on their child. Of course, as good parents, they want to educate their children to always choose the right decision.”Role models are highly important for us psychologically, helping to guide us through life during our development, to make important decisions that affect the outcome of our lives, and to help us find happiness in later life”(Thomas). Thomas advises people on how important role modeling is and how it can help adolescents find happiness in later life. “First, the use of role modeling as a teaching method in secondary education is assessed. Second, adolescents role models and their moral qualities are identified”(Sanderse). Sanderse implies that the moral qualities are identified as well as their role models. Morality may change due to the beliefs and culture, but the morality is set mainly by an adolescent's role
According to Amanda Morin, one way to ensure that you don’t overprotect your child is to not fear first. Whether it’s your child taking his or her first steps or going on his or her first date, they’re always going to be trying new things, so you might as well get used to this early instead of holding your child back because of your own fears. Another one that many parents do is set their own rules or guidelines to ensure that they don’t do everything for their child, but that their child does certain things on their own. Another huge way to avoid over-sheltering your child is to simply let your child make their own mistakes. It may be hard for you to watch them make mistakes, but how else are they going to learn? Everybody makes mistakes, but he important thing is that we learn from them. Instead of keeping your child from trying new things where they could fail or make mistakes, take a step back and let them do it. This will help your child become stronger and more independent, allowing them to learn necessary life skills
As a parent you also have to make sure you have certain expectations that need to be followed. You have to expect cooperation and courtesy at home as well as to be able to get a good night?s sleep without worrying where your teenager is.
One of the most important things to parents is that their child grows up to be a caring, healthy human being. Parents were actually asked what the most important thing they wanted for their children was. “The most common response, given by 48% of the parents, was making sure their child grows up to be a moral person.”
