Bacon Rebellion “Where we do well know that all our causes will be impartially heard and equally justice administer to all men,” as said by, Nathaniel bacon. During the early years, when the America was still developing, conflicts formed the United Stated and its relationship with different part of regions. One of earliest rebellion showed different groups of people uniting, to rebel against the government. Bacon’s rebellion was important because it threaten governor Berkley’s government, in Virginia. In 1676, leader of the rebellion was Nathaniel bacon rebelled and held a revolt in colonial Virginia. High, taxes, low prices for tobacco and antipathy against special privileges given to close to the governor, Sir William Berkeley, provided the reasons for the uprising. Bacon’s rebellion is important, since there were numerous reasons for the start of the rebellions. Nathaniel bacon started the rebellion against the government, because of his different view of point from the governor including trade with the Indian and high tax. Bacon was from Suffolk, England, he had come to Virginia after fighting with his in laws. His father gave him money to buy land in the colonies, so he would have a chance as higher-class citizen. The money he was given was enough for him to purchase two estate near the James River. In Virginia, he was welcomed to the colony by Governor William Berkley. The governor was involved in controlling the colony by trading with the Indians and only expanding the colony when needed. Berkeley assigned bacon on to the governing council. Lastly Bacon’s Rebellion allowed minorities to expand in Virginia. Ronald Takaki claims, "During the last quarter of the century, the black population of Virginia increased steeply to 9,000 and possibly to even 20,000 out of 63,000 for the entire colony." (60) This growth of African America in the late 1600’s happened after bacon rebellion. In conclusion, Bacon’s Rebellion of 1675 was one of the most influent acts against American colonial government. First, it unified many different races and socioeconomic classes. Second Bacon’s rebellion was important because it threatens governor Berkley’s government, in Virginia and lastly Bacon’s plan to overthrow the government was the same plan that was use in the America Revolution, thus Bacon’s Rebellion, in 1676, was really an early and model of the American Revolution.
