Lawn Solution Ltd has recently produced a conceptual design for an automated lawn mower with GPS tracking system. The intended product targets to gain profit and beat competitors, mainly automated lawn mower producers which dominate the current market. Besides discovering future uses of GPS as it gets cheaper, the company also aims to enhance reliability of current automated lawn mowers. This is achieved by using the GPS tracking system which is more accurate and permits complete control of mower’s position.
The company focuses to sell the Automated GPS-Integrated Lawn Mower to city councils, medium to high income private owners and large companies such as universities and park owners. They are recommended to utilise this product as it is more reliable, automated, broader working range and capable of providing better results.

The scope of this report is the risk management of the Automated GPS-Integrated Lawn Mower product. This includes the risk assessment and the plans for risk treatment and communication for each of the risks identified. The project management and financial decision-making are not included in the scope of the report even though it supports those processes.

Conclusion
From the risk assessment, it is found that the most critical risk is the implementation of the GPS technology and the management decision on when to release the product to the public. There is less risk in other factors as the rest of the project is based on already available operation of Lawn Solutions ltd. However, as this is an autonomous product and is first of its kind, there is a lot of attention on this product. Thus, the media may play an important role on the marketing side of this project. This combination of risks means that attention needs to be placed on public relations and publicity. The report also documents the recommended steps to ensure the opportunities are taken. This report will be useful for the management in decision making to set priorities and improve the product’s performance in the market.
SMC is a relatively small manufacturer with a long history and strong brand image. Sales had been consistent for approximately the past 5 years when SMC received a proposal in early 1996. They were currently selling three main mower units. A zero-turning radius riding mower, the Ride King, which accounted for 63.6 percent of SMC’s total sales and 57.8 percent of their total gross profit in 1995.
