The Authenticity of the 1969 Apollo 11 Moonlanding

1234 Words3 Pages

The Apollo 11 mission of 1969 marks the biggest leap in technological advancements for humanity. Neil Armstrong is seen taking the first steps on the moon forever making his mark in humanity. However, theories surrounding the moon landing have come to light. Conspiracy theorists say NASA, the National Aeronautics Space Administration, have faked the Apollo 11 moon landing. Yet, present evidence can support the authenticity of the moon landing. Evidence such as photos, rock samples, technology, and computer monitoring support the moon landing. The moon landing of 1969 did happen.
One of the key pieces of evidence of the moon landing is photo evidence. Numerous photos as well as video have been released and seen by the public. One of the most famous photos is the deployment of the United States flag on the lunar surface that appears to be rippling. Some theories will conclude that there’s no wind in space so the flag could not have been waving. However, Dr. Phillips of NASA’s Science and Space Directorate, states, “Not every waving flag needs a breeze – at least not in space.” Neil Armstrong along with Buzz Aldrin can be seen in video footage twisting the flag to plant it deeper in the lunar soil. This motion causes the flag to appear rippling. Dr. Phillips also says, “Unfurling a piece of rolled-up cloth with stored angular momentum will naturally result in waves and ripples.” Many of the photos taken are from the moon itself. Many of the theories can be refuted by simple common sense as well as technological knowledge of photo equipment. Factors such as light, aperture, reflections affect all photos from the moon.
Not only did NASA bring back photos from the moon, but also an abundance of rock samples. During the Apollo 11 missi...
